“The Chinese government’s long-standing policy of forcibly ending innocent preborn life and punishing parents who want a larger family is both tragic and well known. I call on Alexis McGill Johnson to stand with me and condemn the use of abortion as a tool of genocide by the Chinese government, to prevent the loss of innocent pre-born life against the wishes of women and to respect people’s pro-life convictions,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins.

SFLA begins nationwide outreach, rallying pro-life people to call Planned Parenthood to protect women’s rights to choose life and to oppose the human rights atrocity taking place against minorities.

WASHINGTON D.C.  (07-02-2020) – Following press reports about the Chinese government’s use of abortion as a tool of genocide against a minority population, Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins called on Planned Parenthood President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson to join her in denouncing the human rights atrocity on behalf of women whose choice for life is not being respected or protected. Hawkins made the following statement:

“The Chinese government’s long-standing policy of forcibly ending innocent preborn life and punishing parents who want a larger family is both tragic and well known. And this week we are learning more about abortion as one of Chinese officials’ weapons to destroy the Uighur population in Xinjiang. According to an explosive Associated Press story, ‘[T]he campaign over the past four years in the far west region of Xinjiang is leading to what some experts are calling a form of ‘demographic genocide.’ I call on Alexis McGill Johnson to stand with me and condemn the use of abortion as a tool of genocide by the Chinese government, to prevent the loss of innocent pre-born life against the wishes of women and to respect people’s pro-life convictions.

“This would be an important step for Planned Parenthood given their racist record. For example, Planned Parenthood’s founder Margaret Sanger  justified the use of infanticide in China to address overpopulation, citing cultural differences. She wrote, ‘The Chinese need our sanitation, our hygiene and our birth control.’

“The arrogance of such statements is shocking. As women, we should work together against such human rights atrocities and for the freedom of women to choose life for their child.”

Abortion policy in the U.S. stems from a legal framework first set in Roe v. Wade, which many people don’t understand. In fact, if you like some limits on abortion, such as opposing infanticide for babies who survive an abortion, you don’t like Roe.
