The real victim of Former President Donald Trump’s assassination attempt is not the Democrats’ ambitions: It’s a man who sacrificed his life for his family.
As the media swirls with stories of Trump’s miraculous assassination attempt survival, his own bravery wasn’t the only of note. A firefighter, self-proclaimed “girl dad,” and described as a pillar of the community Corey Comperatore, 50, died protecting his wife and daughters from gunfire. This split-second act cost him his life but in the eyes of his family and the nation he’s gained the title of “hero.”
And objectively speaking, he is. A good father doesn’t risk his children’s lives due to his cowardice but protects them with his life. This is a universally recognized good. Only those with despicable fringe beliefs would disagree, some like progressive commentator Destiny, who mocked and showed no sympathy for this father and his grieving family.
Though some despicably disregard his actions and life, most on either side of the political and moral aisle recognize his courageous and selfless actions.
That is, of course, precisely the point. It hardly takes convincing for someone to admit a father laying down his life is heroic. It takes far more mental gymnastics to convince people that leaving your children, cowering in fear and protecting yourself, or partaking in an abortion is a courageous act. In Destiny’s case, it takes disgusting and twisted mind contortions to convince himself that not only is he not heroic, but even more so, imply that Comperatore deserved it because of who he supported.
Comperatore is more than a media prop for people like Destiny to make his morbid and heartless point, and he’s more than a political talking point for the Right or the Left. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. His daughter Allyson recalled the love of her father and the details of that devastating moment on Facebook, writing:
“He was the best dad a girl could ever ask for. My sister and I never needed for anything. You call, he would answer, and he would do whatever it is you needed, and if he didn’t know how he would figure out how. He could talk and make friends with anyone, which he was doing all day yesterday and loved every minute of it. He was a man of God, loved Jesus fiercely, and also looked after our church and our members as family.”
He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us.”
Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro respectfully and appropriately put all differences aside and spoke highly of Comperatore at a recent press conference.
“Corey went to church every Sunday,” Shapiro stated. “Corey loved his community. Most especially, Corey loved his family. Corey was the very best of us. May his memory be a blessing. Last night was shocking… political disagreements can never, ever be addressed through violence.”
America needs more men who courageously protect life, born and preborn.
We need more men who guard their wives and children like precious jewels.
We need more men who protect the innocent from the unforgiving brutality and violence of evil people.
May Corey Comperatore be remembered not only as a hero but as a standard for every man to strive to be and bear the serious responsibility of protector, father, and husband.
“Our fathers bear an awesome responsibility — one that they shoulder willingly and fulfill with a love that asks no recompense,” Former President Ronald Reagan once said. “By turns both gentle and firm, our fathers guide us along the path from infancy to adulthood. We embody their joy, pain and sacrifice, and inherit memories more cherished than any possession.”
