Letter to HHS Secretary Urges Reinstitution of 2008 Conscience Protections

“Healthcare access for hundreds of thousands of patients nationwide will be threatened and healthcare costs will rise because of the lack of facilities to provide needed services,” warned a joint letter to Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services following the Obama administration’s recent move to strip the medical community of nearly all its conscience protections under federal law. Medical Students for Life of America, currently on a bioethics tour across the country, partnered with the Christian Medical Association, Catholic Medical Association, the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) and more than 100 medical professionals and students to sign and send the joint letter.

Letter to Secretary Sebelius: Doctors Will Flee and Patients Suffer Without Protections

Today, Medical Students for Life partnered with the Christian Medical Association, Catholic Medical Association, the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) released a joint letter to Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services warning her of the alarming effects on patients that will follow the Obama administration’s recent move to strip the medical community of nearly all its conscience protections under federal law. Medical Students for Life is calling on medical students and medical professionals to sign onto the letter before it is sent on March 22nd.

Med Students for Life Launches 2nd Half of National Tour

Medical Students for Life (Med SFLA), an outreach of Students for Life of America, is launching the second half of its national Bioethics Symposium and Tour this week beginning with a private gathering with University Minnesota medical students and a presentation at Minnesota’s Mayo Medical School on March 16th from 12-1pm, at Saint John’s: 1 4th Avenue Southwest Rochester, MN, just down the street from Mayo Medical School. The first half of the tour swept across the southeast United States and stopped eleven times to host symposiums at numerous medical schools and universities, and coincided with the February 18th actions by the Obama Administration to gut the only federal regulation protecting the conscience rights of medical professionals.

Speaking Tour to Visit New Orleans Medical Schools

The first-ever National Medical Students for Life of America (Med SFLA) Bioethics Symposium and Tour will be visiting New Orleans’ Medical Schools this Monday and Tuesday to counter the Obama Administration’s attack on conscience protections for medical professionals. The tour will hit Louisiana State University School of Medicine (February 21st, 12-1pm), a joint presentation for Loyola University, Tulane University, and University of New Orleans (February 21st, 7-8pm).
