Rhyan Klostermeyer is one of the National Leaders Collective’s leaders of the month and a William Wilberforce Fellow attending the University of Montana. The NLC is for high school or college students interested in pursuing and working in the pro-life movement. Strobel is one of those students who gained confidence in speaking out on pro-life issues at his high school and community. Learn more about Klostermeyer’s activism below:
God put the pro-life cause in my heart at a young age. While there are many important causes to fight for, the most fundamental right is the right to life. Without it, we cannot have liberty, we cannot have happiness, and we cannot come to a relationship with Jesus. Because all humans are equal, regardless of their size, level of development, environment, and degree of dependency, the right to life begins at conception. It is up to the pro-life movement to help the world realize that abortion is no different from the human rights violations that have occurred throughout history.
I was active in various local pro-life organizations and events growing up. Now that I attend college in my hometown, I can continue with those groups and further develop my leadership. For example, I grew up participating in a local pro-life essay and oratory contest, and now I serve as a judge for the next group of students! I also helped organize and speak at Bozeman March for Life events. As a chemical engineering student, I developed my leadership and experience through research positions, internships, tutoring, and spending the summer door-knocking with Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, encouraging voters to vote pro-life. However, I still wanted to do more, so I applied for the NLC to receive quality training and mentorship during an important election year.
Our main accomplishment this year was re-vamping our Students for Life of America (SFLA) group. Although the group has been active in various capacities for years, we decided in January that it was time to get serious during the election year. Fast forward to today, and our group chat now has more than 30 people! We have the best team of passionate, patriotic, and pro-life leaders. In April, we hosted SFLA’s “Stop Abortion Extremism” tour and had more than 60 conversations with students about Montana’s abortion constitutional initiative. This past spring, our club participated in 40 Days for Life and rallied and prayed outside an abortion referral business every Friday.
This November, abortion is on the ballot in Montana, where CI-128 would allow abortion through all nine months. Now more than ever, we need to fight for life.
SFLA goes above and beyond to equip its leaders with professional and constructive training. I can’t wait to continue participating in the William Wilberforce fellowship this year!
