Rose’s mom always called her his “miracle angel,” and recently, she found out why: She survived an attempted abortion.
As Students for Life of America (SFLA) comes close to wrapping the many ALMOST ABORTED stories, part of its six-figure national messaging campaign, one woman learned the truth of her “almost aborted” journey when her mom shared her darkest secret. Rose and her mother credit God for protecting her life. Through ALMOST ABORTED, she’s sharing her story as one among many, including Faith, Rebecca, Josiah, Angela, Lily, Hope, Mia, Micaella, Tina, and Karen.
Rose was almost aborted before Roe v. Wade ever reached the U.S. Supreme Court. In 1961, her mom discovered she was pregnant with Rose, her sixth child. Because her family had little money and lived in a small apartment, her mother was desperate and more susceptible to medical “solutions.” Her doctor told her he had a “solution” and proceeded to dose her with tons of methotrexate and a saline injection into the uterus.
“She went to his office for three consecutive days,” Rose told SFLA. “For each of these three days, she took 18 pills of methotrexate and received a saline-infused injection in her uterus.”
Despite the doctor’s efforts, Rose survived and was born with a foot abnormality attributed to methotrexate.
“At the time, my mom was so desperate as she ‘followed doctor’s orders,’ but God was so good.” Rose continued. “He not only saved me from abortion, but He helped our family survive the hard times we faced.”
Even during the hard financial times, Rose is grateful for and loves life, and her mother is relieved her abortion failed and is thankful for her “miracle angel.” Rose’s mother will turn 95 with forgiveness from her daughter and freedom through sharing their story with the world.
