Endangered Species Day Neglects the Most Vulnerable of Them All: Preborn Children

Today is Endangered Species Day – a day enacted by Congress to raise awareness for protecting vulnerable species. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and even the Biden Administration prides itself on its commitment to nurturing the environment and making it a safe place for all species.

His administration tried to demonstrate his allegiance to environmental concerns with his sluggish response to the crisis in the waterways. Yet, they have refused to track mifepristone in American waterways, which harms endangered species they claim to care so much about, as well as American men, women, and children.

Even worse is the hypocrisy of putting such a high fine and prison time for killing or harming an animal, yet far less for human beings in the womb. While some states, such as Florida, have come closer to protecting life at conception with the Heartbeat Abortion Prevention Act, which protects life after six weeks, with South Carolina and Georgia having similar laws.

Students for Life of America (SFLA) cares about the environment – first in terms of how all species are affected by “forever chemicals” in the water, which we’ve talked about constantly for years through letters and amicus brief

But more importantly, our deepest amount of care goes towards innocent preborn children who should never be carelessly flushed down the toilet. We know that those lives lost due to at-home Chemical Abortion Pills would have made our environment better, whether the EPA or Biden Administration care to admit it.

Here are three animals in the United States that have more than, less than, or same protections as preborn babies and interact with America’s waterways.

Florida Manatees

These gentle, friendly sea creatures can be found swimming freely in Florida state parks, including Blue Spring State Park, Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park, and Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Manatees are in the waterways all year round but have their own manatee gathering during the winter months. Harassing, hunting, capturing, or killing these gentle creatures, along with other marine life, is illegal under federal law (Endangered Species Act) and punishable by a fine of up to $50,000, one-year imprisonment, or both.

Seems like Florida is a sanctuary and sunshine state for both manatees and preborn children. According to Florida abortion law, “Anyone who performs or actively participates in an unlawful abortion can be charged with a third-degree felony and face up to five years in prison, a fine of up to $5,000, or both. If the pregnant woman dies as a result, they can be charged with a second-degree felony and face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.”

California Tiger Salamander

Both an endangered and threatened species, California Tiger Salamanders live in the foothills and grasslands of central California. They run, jump, and swim in the water, and currently their greatest foe is a deadly fungus called Batrachochytrium salamandrivorans (Bsal). According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, penalties for killing, injuring, or hunting these creatures include “range from $25,000 to $50,000 for each violation, one-year imprisonment, or both fine and imprisonment (Fish & G. Code, § 12008.1).”

While you can go to prison and fined for killing a little lizard, killing a preborn child up until birth is horrifyingly “ok” in California. In 2022, they passed a ballot measure, Proposition 1, enshrining abortion through all nine months of pregnancy in their state’s constitution.

Is a lizard’s life more valuable than a child’s life? Gavin Newsom and his California Democrats think so.

Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle

One of the rarest and endangered sea turtles in the world, Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle, named after a Florida fisherman, are found in the Atlantic Ocean on the east coast around New Jersey shore, but also the Gulf of Mexico and Texas, as well as other rare sitings near other states.

While you can be imprisoned up to one year, fined up to 50,000, or both for injuring and killing one of these turtles, while abortion is freely allowed with no gestational limit in New Jersey.

All Around the World: Preborn Human Life

Preborn lives will always be more valuable than an animal’s life. However, even an animal’s life isn’t valued by the “eco-conscious” abortion-loving Democrats, who allow Chemical Abortion Pills to pollute our waterways and endanger species even further.

Let’s not forget the most vulnerable species of all – the innocent, preborn life, helpless to fight back. As progressives tout the environmental wins for endangered species, remind them that we must do better.
