The Campus Pregnancy Support Study rates 553 state schools, finds the average campus offers barely half the recommended support, and calls college presidents to act this semester.
“When a student can find a pregnancy test at the health center but no family housing, no child care, no maternity parking, and no scholarships, the institution’s intentions for her pregnancy are clear,” said Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America. “Students are not choosing abortion freely but being systematically funneled toward it by the absence of support. We want every young mother to be able to walk across the graduation stage with her child watching.”

FREDERICKSBURG, VA (10-01-2026) – Students for Life of America’s (SFLA) Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement released a new study showing hundreds of state colleges and universities across the nation are failing to support pregnant and parenting students with resources to stay in school. SFLA believes higher education is sending a clear message to college-aged women: get an abortion or struggle being a student and parent.
College campuses are one of the places abortion is most often sold to young women as the price of a future, and Students for Life’s Demetree Institute’s latest research finds that too many schools reinforce that message by default.
The Campus Pregnancy Support Study rated 553 state colleges and universities on a five-star scale across five categories: Housing Policies, On-Campus Resources, Financial Assistance, Medical Attention, and Accommodations & Policy Transparency.
Here’s what the study found:
- 553 schools scored an average of 3.1 out of 5 stars
- 98.6% are missing at least two recommended accommodations
- 72.7% offer no on-campus family housing
- 91.1% offer no maternity parking
- 84.8% offer no pregnancy or parenting scholarships
- 46.1% offer no on-campus child care
- Just 7 schools (roughly 1.3%) earned five stars
The Dirty Dozen
Students for Life has identified a “Dirty Dozen” — 12 of the study’s lowest-scoring schools — and is calling on their presidents to close the gaps. Three tied for the worst rating in the entire study at 1 star: Dalton State College (GA), Dakota State University (SD), and Concord University (WV).
- Dalton State College (GA) – 1 star
- Dakota State University (SD) – 1 star
- Concord University (WV) – 1 star
- The College of the Florida Keys (FL) – 1.5 stars
- Indiana State University (IN) – 1.5 stars
- McNeese State University (LA) – 1.5 stars
- Fairmont State University (WV) – 1.5 stars
- Elizabeth City State University (NC) – 1.5 stars
- Mayville State University (ND) – 1.5 stars
- Rhode Island College (RI) – 1.5 stars
- Radford University (VA) – 1.5 stars
- University of Wisconsin–Parkside (WI) – 1.5 stars
“No student should ever be told, even by omission, that her only path to a diploma is an abortion clinic,” Hawkins said. “We’re calling on every Dirty Dozen president to fix at least half of what’s missing within one academic year. These 12 schools are the clearest examples, but they are not the only ones.”
SFLA is urging supporters to contact the Dirty Dozen directly through an online portal and to download a free toolkit at studentsforlife.org/campuspregnancysupportstudy to reach any of the 553 schools reviewed.
With Title IX back in the news, SFLA is also calling on the U.S. Senate to pass SFLA’s original legislation, the “Pregnant Students’ Rights Act,” which would require colleges to disclose these same rights and accommodations to students, including how to file a Title IX complaint. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-IA), passed the House in January but has stalled in the Senate ever since.
SFLA’s Standing With You initiative maintains a national directory connecting pregnant and parenting women with local resources nationwide. Its Standing With You Scholarship shows what’s possible when support exists, backed up with a check. The program awards women who feel trapped by the false choice between motherhood and a degree, like one recent awardee who learned she was pregnant the day before her law school orientation and was told she’d have to pick one or the other. She chose both. SFLA is proud to help her cross the finish line with her education and her growing child intact, and she enters her final year of law school this fall.

PLG includes Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), that together make up the nation’s largest, pro-life youth organization, managing a grassroots political and policy operation engaging Americans of all ages but with a special emphasis on the largest segment of voters — the Youth Vote. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, PLG/SFLA/SFLAction serves more than 1,600 groups on middle, high school, college, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. Our team has more conversations with this generation targeted by the abortion lobby than any other pro-life operation in the world, each week reaching more than 4 million across social media platforms and averaging 1.3 million video views. In addition to SFLA/SFLAction, PLG leads multiple initiatives to lead and serve the future of the pro-life movement including the Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, Standing With You, and the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement. Over more than 17 years, PLG CEO Kristan Hawkins has grown the operation into a nearly $20M organization, now preparing for an abortion-free America.
