If they can’t kill preborn babies and hurt women with TWO PILLS, they’ll do MORE with ONE
Concern for women doesn’t rank high in the abortion value system.
With headlines painting the nation’s news sites with stories about legal and legislative battles over mifepristone — the first of the two drugs used for Chemical Abortion — out of the ugly shadows comes rumors of a pivot to the second pill only. As an example, NPR breathlessly reports that using misoprostol could be a way around the number one form of abortion in America today, the two-pill protocol.
While NPR notes women and girls “experience fewer side effects when the medications are combined,” horrific issues with misoprostol doesn’t deter those selling death-by-mail.
Over the last five years, abortion vendors worldwide have toyed openly with a one-pill protocol. The abortion radicals at the World Health Organization talked about openly it in 2018, and U.S. abortion vendors are looking at it now. And it’s much more radical than you think.
SFLA reported about the issues with the two-pill method: New Study Finds Chemical Abortion More Dangerous than FDA Admits
A new study out from the Ethics and Public Policy Center (EPPC) titled “The Abortion Pill Harms Women” finds that it’s so much worse than the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) admits. Two new truths are now available to address old lies. Most importantly, we now know this: “Serious adverse events from mifepristone are approximately 22 times more frequent” than the FDA reports, which means that more than 1 in 10 patients will “experience at least one serious adverse event.”
Students for Life has been tracking what is in essence a coat hanger pill for unsuspecting women, causing tragic side effects for too many. We first reported on the shocking data here: Women Beware: New Report Shows Taking the One-Pill Abortion Regimen is MUCH Deadlier
We noted:
A new study has come out showing that this one-pill method (which solely uses Misoprostol) is significantly more dangerous than the two-pill abortion regime method (which is the prescription of both Misoprostol and Mifepristone) — but at the same time, we are seeing an insurgence of abortion vendors promoting the sale of the one-pill method. That doesn’t show much concern for women’s health and safety. Here’s what this new study found and why it matters in this Post-Roe America:
… The Charlotte Lozier Institute recently released a new report by Senior Fellow and Director of Medical Affairs Ingrid Skop (M.D., F.A.C.O.G.) which is entitled, “Induced Abortion with Misoprostol Alone.” The report detailed exactly why the one-pill Chemical Abortion regimen is such a killer for women, noting the abortion lobby’s disregard for women’s health, as well.
Skop stated in her report:
“Evidence from around the globe demonstrates that misoprostol alone is a poor abortifacient and very likely to cause injury to women…As an example of how poorly misoprostol alone functions to cause abortion, a 2010 study comparing standard mifepristone/misoprostol with misoprostol alone documented that using misoprostol only to induce an abortion led to a 23.8% failure rate requiring surgery. The embryo/fetus continued to survive in 16.6% of the pregnancies, and misoprostol is known to produce birth defects such as Moebius Sequence, associated with craniofacial and limb abnormalities, leaving these children at risk if the pregnancy continued to birth. In contrast, there were 3.5% failures and 1.5% continuing pregnancies in the mifepristone/misoprostol group.
“Similarly, a 2013 study demonstrated a failure rate of 38.8% when misoprostol alone was used vaginally and 29.8% when used sublingually (under the tongue). Finally, a worldwide systematic review of more than 12,000 misoprostol abortions, performed by abortion advocacy researchers, found 22% (nearly one in four) required surgical completion because misoprostol failed to completely empty the uterus of the remains of the child.”
What ever happened to their old mantra that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare?”
This willingness to increase the risks shows how little abortion vendors and their political friends care about preborn babies or their mothers — whether they take two pills or one.
Chemical Abortion Pills expose women and girls to injury, infertility, and death; empower abusers; create risks to the environment, including endangered species.
Do pill pushers care that 1 in 10 women will have serious issues after taking both pills? Will they care that using only the second pill, up to 4 in 10 who use the pill vaginally and 3 in 10 who take it by mouth have issues?
Probably not. And they are not the only ones.
We get occasional, so-called “pro-life” opposition to fighting the number one method of abortion today, as though if all lives can’t be saved in each and every effort, no effort is worth it. Do those same leaders mock those praying outside abortion vendor operations because not every child is saved?
We are fighting the cultural cancer that is abortion, and that cancer must be cut out and treated wherever we find it in a struggle that will not end in an instant. This is not a one-size-fits-all movement. Every life preserved is a victory. Every place where laws are put in place to protect any number of lives is a step in the right direction.
Some will argue that abortions may become MORE dangerous by working to end the number one method of abortion in America, should pill pushers pivot to misoprostol. Clearly, we have to stop all of the above for abortion. But never forget that it is abortionists who decide to pivot to more dangerous methods to keep their paychecks coming, and as they maneuver, pro-life advocates must meet them in the culture, in the courts, and in the legislatures so that lives can be saved.
The biggest policy pivot needs to be made at the federal agency level — where Chemical Abortion Pills were introduced, deregulated, and ignored. That willingness to recklessly endanger women’s lives should motivate the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) to act. Pill pushers profiting off of a preborn children and women’s Chemical Abortion Pill induced deaths should not be ignored by the agency that is charged with drug safety. More than any agency, the FDA should put a stop to reckless distribution of a deadly form of abortion.
We have our work cut out for us. But pro-life Americans will never forget that when pill pushers sell these drugs, the goal is that on EVERY USE, someone dies.
