The Journal of the American Medical Association has decimated the lie that doctors would “flee” pro-life states – the opposite happened

Remember June 22, 2022, when yours truly stood at a podium outside the Supreme Court and read the justices’ ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health? On that day, Roe v. Wade was reversed, and we celebrated.
And the pro-abortion media got to work on its lies.
Chief among those lies was their nonstop fear-mongering that a pro-life America was a dangerous America.
Heaven forbid some states begin exercising their right to protect children and moms from the barbaric violence of abortion.
Chief among their lies was the claim that physicians would not be able to bear living in states that banned or limited abortion.
Doctors, they assured us, would flee these states for states where doctors still had license to kill.
We saw headlines like this, from The New Yorker: “The Texas OB/GYN Exodus.” It claimed:
Amid the tightening restrictions on maternal care, doctors had started leaving Texas; others were contemplating early retirement.
And from the Association of American Medical Colleges: “The Fallout of Dobbs on the Field of OB/GYN,” which read:
The historic June 2022 Dobbs decision is roiling the waters for obstetricians-gynecologists (OB-GYNs) like Cooper and those considering the specialty. Many say the ruling has interfered in the physician-provider relationship, undercut their ability to provide evidence-based care, and put them in legal peril. Such setbacks are concerning, experts say, partly because they may spur OB-GYNs — who often provide sorely needed general medical care — to move or leave the field entirely.
And from the Texas Tribune:
Texas’ new abortion laws are stressing the state’s already beleaguered OB-GYN workforce, and threatening the pipeline of new doctors that would help provide relief…
Well, I bet you will never guess what the prestigious Journal of the American Medical Association just found.
They didn’t find that OB/GYNs were leaving.
They didn’t even find that numbers had stagnated.
The new JAMA study has found that the number of OB/GYNs increased more in states where abortion is banned or threatened than it did in states where abortion is protected.
Here are the numbers.
From before to after Dobbs, the number of OB-GYNs increased by:
- 8.3% in states where abortion is banned
- 10.5% in states where abortion is threatened
- 7.7% in states where abortion is protected
Once again, these findings directly disprove bogus “surveys” and media narratives claiming that physicians would flee states with pro-life protections.
Let’s be real: Those reports NEVER made sense.
Why on earth would someone enter a profession designed to save people’s lives and then be mad and leave because they can’t kill their own patients?
Like what kind of psycho doctor gets peeved and leaves their patients and moves out of their state because pro-life laws were passed?
Seems like it is only really the fringe minority doctor who is willing to kill his or her patients in abortion. After all, it’s hard to make money as an abortionist in a state that doesn’t allow abortion.
Real doctors, who practice the kind of Hippocratic medicine which vows to “do no harm,” seem to be not just OK with practicing medicine in pro-life states… they seem to be happy with it. After all, the numbers show that these states are picking up more new doctors than their pro-abortion counterparts.
So here’s my advice to you: When the media is claiming things are going to go wrong as a result of states protecting their babies and moms from abortion violence, know that the opposite is going to happen.
