ReachTV has canceled a spot, noting that six-and-a-half football stadiums could be filled with the children lost to abortion through Planned Parenthood’s gruesome, taxpayer-funded business. WASHINGTON D.C. (01-03-2025) – Mere days before a TV ad buy to start on Sunday, Reach TV canceled a spot set to run during Sunday’s NFL game. Students for Life of America (SFLA) has prepared a commercial to expose Planned Parenthood’s death toll on a national stage, with a 30-second NFL commercial supposed to air Sunday, January 5th. SFLA’s “Exposing Planned Parenthood” commercial highlights the nearly $700 million of Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer-supported funding and its kill rate of 400,000 preborn American children per year. Consider that those lost to us would fill up six and a half football stadiums. The commercial called for Congress and the White House to debar & defund Planned Parenthood in response to redirect those funds for life-saving care.
As noted in the initial announcement of this campaign: “Unassuming football fans have no idea that their daily labor for their families and livelihood go towards the brutal dismemberment and starvation of preborn children,” said SFLA President Kristan Hawkins. “Planned Parenthood’s recent annual report showed a whopping almost $700 million of funding from tax-paying American citizens. Paired with their alleged illegal business dealings by reportedly selling baby body parts and partnering with Hey Jane, an organization that openly sends Chemical Abortion Pills, we hope football fans take a break from cheering their favorite team to chant ‘debar and defund Planned Parenthood.’ inspiring Congress, President-elect Trump, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to end the wasted resources.”
Key points from Planned Parenthood’s annual report in 2022-2023 compared to 2021-2022 prove abortion is a federal issue:
- Abortion rose to 392,715 from 374,155 lives ended. (About 40% of all abortions in the United States).
- Coerced taxpayer funding rose to $699.3 MILLION, From $670.4 million in 2021-2022, and up from $618.1 million in 2019-2022.
- 45 Planned Parenthood locations sold sex-manipulating, potentially sterilizing drugs – up from 41.
The abortion industry is no stranger to squeezing money from government programs. As SFLA Vice President of Media and Policy Kristi Hamrick wrote:
“Abortion funding can be found in the budgets of the Department of Health and Human Services where healthcare policy and mandates of all kinds dictate spending, in Department of Defense and Education spending through school-based and international aid, proposed in the Abortion is Health Care Everywhere Act. It’s found in funding to Planned Parenthood through Title X funds as well in grants from HHS as the U.S. Government Accountability Act notes. Abortion funding was even placed in the fine print of COVID relief, as though ending lives was part of saving lives. And this list is hardly definitive.”
