SFLA Joins the Rally at the Supreme Court as the FDA Faces the Justices Regarding their Handling of Dangerous Chemical Abortion Pills

WASHINGTON D.C. (03-27-2024) – Students for Life of America Executive Vice President Tina Whittington will join the rally outside of the Supreme Court as U.S. Food & Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine is set to be argued over the approval of deadly Chemical Abortion Pills. At issue will be the FDA’s failures in adequately taking steps to ensure that women and young girls are not harmed even as young lives in the womb are ended. SFLA agrees that the FDA recklessly ignored patient safety to prioritize fast approval and too easy distribution of drug designed to end life, and in an amicus brief, argues that the FDA also failed to take steps to adequately protect endangered species and the environment from the medical waste of abortion – chemically tainted blood, placenta tissue, and human remains – flushed into America’s waterways.

Whittington to make the following statement: “Students for Life of America has prioritized the fight against Chemical Abortion Pills, because we work every day on more than 1,400 campuses and in all 50 states, with the generation most targeted for abortion. “While the abortion industry says Chemical Abortion Pills make up more than 6 in 10 of all abortion’s committed, we don’t believe that’s the extent of the problem. We have no National Abortion Reporting law, but in Europe, where they do, Chemical Abortion pills account for 75% to more than 90% of all abortions.

“In this case heard before the Supreme Court today, U.S. Food and Drug Administration v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, Alliance Defending Freedom is brilliantly illustrating the harms to women and young girls that are documented when the two-drug cocktail of mifepristone and misoprostol are used to end the lives of the most defenseless among us, the preborn.

“The Online No Test Distribution of Chemical Abortion pills set up by the Biden Administration and approved by the FDA exposes women to injury, infertility, and death. It also reckless  exposes women to abusers, who can use the drugs on mothers without their knowledge and consent.

“And now in California they are offering chemical abortion through their state university health centers, University of Illinois has voted in doing the same, and CVS and Walgreens, the two largest pharmacy chains in the U.S., are also going to be selling chemical abortion pills.

The FDA has put easy abortion access over the safety of women and created a situation where we are going to see more abortion injury.

“Students for Life has filed four citizens petitions to the FDA outlining the harms to women removing the Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies have caused as well as the harm to the environment when chemically tainted pregnancy tissue and fetal remains are flushed down the toilets and ultimately into our waterways.

“Our amicus brief filed in this case shows how the FDA has sanctioned this abortion pollution as policy and we have followed up with the EPA and Congress demanding that they track the harmful forever chemicals that these abortions release into our water.

“The pro-life movement cares deeply for the least of these – the preborn and their mothers who need love and resources, not abortion.  And today we hope the Justices have heard the truth and weighed in the balance that women’s lives are not to be risked for the sake of expedient abortion policies that have created exponential harm. Women’s health matters!”
