The Keystone Cops of academia “supported by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate” have employed the same powers of deduction capable of ignoring millions walking over our southern border to begin a project evaluating “individual radicalism.” Exhibiting all the viewpoint discrimination and political criminalization one expects from President Biden’s security experts, a new project offers “Profiles of Individual Radicalization in the United States.” Students for Life of America was surprised to find our name buried on a non-alphabetized list of alleged suspects under “group or movement affiliation.” It’s almost like they didn’t want us to see it. But an eagle-eyed student noticed.
The slur is the “brainchild” of Homeland Insecurity apparently hosted by the University of Maryland – From the website: “The National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism—better known as START—is a university-based research and education center comprised of an international network of scholars committed to the scientific study of the causes and human consequences of terrorism in the United States and around the world.”
In a guilt by association kind of tar-and-feathering, the peaceful, pro-life organization is placed in a list of some who seem truly bad actors, though a fact check might be in order given the bias of the source. Also missing were groups like Jane’s Revenge, threatening violence – including gun violence AGAINST Students for Life of America – known for the phrase, “IF ABORTIONS AREN’T SAFE, YOU’RE NOT EITHER.”

Homeland security missed that one. And did they forget Planned Parenthood? When it comes to “mass casualty” offenders, it’s hard to beat Planned Parenthood for death on a Soviet-Union-Under-Stalin scale.
William Braniff, Director of START, seems to have close ties with the administration, cashing checks for project work according to his biography online, and even invited to speak at an Eradicate Hate Global Summit in 2022, which likely did not include hatred of the pre-born. In fact, addressing perceived attitudes rather than criminal acts is celebrated by Braniff, who said at that time, “START data and findings have been important contributors to the increased attention that the U.S. Government is placing on hate crime.”
In a recently hyperventilating story by the Associated Press, START claims to have been able to track six violent attacks stemming from “a conspiracy theory.” While we are unable to verify their conclusions, it’s clear that politics plays a big role in what they see as troubling … and that hating pro-life Americans isn’t being monitored.
And now we get to the heart of the matter. A group with government funding seems to be tracking groups and individuals based on what they think and who seem offended that peaceful individuals value both mother and child – born and preborn. Get over it.
When you consider the Biden Administration prejudice against Catholics or even the arrest of two students with SFLA in Washington D.C. for the “crime” trying to chalk BLACK PREBORN LIVE MATTER this isn’t a surprise.
But it is an offense against commonsense and common respect for the freedom of expression in our U.S. Constitution … not to mention an offensive misuse of taxpayer resources.
