Free speech affects everyone. Here is the latest from our sister organization, Students for Life Action.
“A Department of Justice, under the control of radical abortion supporters in the Biden Administration, has made turning a blind eye to crimes against those who love mothers and their children their standard operation procedure,” said Students for Life Action President. “Something is clearly broken when President Biden’s son is offered a misdemeanor for a gun charge, while peaceful pro-life activists collectively face decades in jail because of their protest where a late-term abortionist ends innocent human lives.”
WASHINGTON D.C. (08-31-2023) – “The long-term hostility of Democrats in our nation’s capital to peaceful pro-life citizens is on full display as five people face years in prison for a protest in our nation’s Capital,” said Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins, who called for an end to President Bill Clinton’s Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and pledged support to efforts in the U.S. House to cut funds used to oppress pro-life Americans, a proposal made by Rep. Chip Roy along with 11 other members launched earlier this year.

She continued: “The FACE Act allows activist legal partisans to oppress pro-life people in public spaces. And considering the arrests of two Students for Life students not that long ago for trying to write pro-life messages in chalk in our capital, it’s clear that common sense and common decency is MIA in Washington D.C. The aggressive oppression of pro-life people compared to the free pass given to violent protesters burning the city to the ground is a clear sign that our Justice system is failing.”
This week in federal court, five people protesting in October 2020 at the Washington Surgi-Clinic, operated by the late-term abortionist Cesare Santangelo, were found guilty of FACE Act violations, which will be appealed according to their attorney statements. Four more will face a similar trial.
A pattern of legal oppression against pro-life Americans is emerging. As Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins wrote for Newsweek:
“Threats and acts of violence against pro-life activists are becoming increasingly common. Students for Life students and team members have endured everything from physical attacks and arson to bomb threats and intimidation, making security issues a vital concern and expense for pro-life events. When Justice Brett Kavanaugh—who was seen as a possible pro-life vote—was confirmed to the Supreme Court, protestors stormed the Court, banging on the doors. Outside the U.S., violent protests broke out in Poland and Latin America when those countries contemplated pro-life policies. Antifa has protested my own speaking tours … Some abortion supporters are pairing their advocacy for the violence of abortion with violent acts, which have a definite chilling effect on public discourse that must be overcome.
When people are afraid to use their free speech rights, those rights don’t truly exist.”

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest, pro-life youth organization, managing a political and policy operation engaging Americans of all ages but with a special emphasis on the largest segment of voters — the Youth Vote. Together they provide political, legal, educational, and community support for women and children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA serves more than 1,400 groups on middle, high school, college, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with this generation targeted by the abortion lobby than any other pro-life operation in the world, each week reaching more than 4 million across social media platforms and averaging 1.3 million video views. SFLA has also launched multiple initiatives to lead and serve the future of the pro-life movement including the Campaign for Abortion Free Cities, Standing With You, and the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement. Over more than 17 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA and the Pro-Life Generation into a nearly $20M organization, now preparing for an abortion-free America.
