Students for Life’s Lauren Castillo salutes Stitt as “an exceptional role model for the Pro-Life Generation working to end the human rights atrocity of our day – abortion.”

AURORA, CO & WASHINGTON D.C. (06-03-2022) – At the prestigious Western Conservative Summit, Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins along with SFLA’s Director of Mission Advancement, Lauren Castillo, celebrated an historic accomplishment 50 years in the making and honored the state of Oklahoma with the first Pro-Life Sanctuary State Award. Castillo announced the designation in her remarks introducing Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt at the event.

“Oklahoma is the first in the nation receiving Students for Life of America’s Pro-Life Sanctuary State award, the first of 50 states we hope and pray,” said Castillo in her remarks. “None of this would be possible without the leadership of Governor Kevin Stitt who signed into law a Texas-style Heartbeat bill, legislation to ban online distribution of Chemical Abortion pills, and not one but two Life at Conception Acts, one of which is a civil-enforcement style law, and the other is Students for Life Action’s model Life at Conception Act that protects Life in Law through traditional enforcement. The Sooner State is a Sanctuary State for the preborn, and Governor Kevin Stitt has become an exceptional role model for the Pro-Life Generation working to end the human rights atrocity of our day – abortion.”

Hawkins praised the partnership between Pro-Life advocates and compassionate legislators working to protect life in law and in service. “Roe v. Wade eroded the law, stripping human rights from human beings when they are in the womb. The Pro-Life Generation congratulates Oklahoma and Governor Still for showing that we can restore sanity and common sense to our legal codes, which should protect the innocent rather than protecting an industry that causes their deaths,” said Hawkins.

Students for Life Action (SFLAction), a 501c4, along with its 501c3 sister organization, Students for Life of America (SFLA), make up the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization and a political and policy operation engaging people of all ages. Together they work to end abortion — the human rights issue of our day — and provide political, legal, and community support for women and their children, born and preborn. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, VA, SFLA has more than 1,25groups on middlehigh school, college, university, medical, and law school campuses in all 50 states. SFLA creates strategy, policy, and programming to connect those most targeted for abortion with people ready to help and builds a framework for political engagement on their behalf. SFLA and SFLAction have more conversations with those most targeted by the abortion industry than any other pro-life outreach in the world, reaching more than 2 million people across social media platforms each week and engaging in approximately 100,000 digital conversations per month. Over more than 15 years, President Kristan Hawkins has grown SFLAction/SFLA into an $18 million organization preparing for a post-Roe America.
