In New York, a brand-new Students for Life group has just started at Wallkill High School. They are led by a great group of girls, the groups is fully official with the school, and they have an advisor. Seems like beginning and end of story, no?
Nope, not at a public high school in New York. Since someone (*ahem* Planned Parenthood & the toxic abortion industry) consistently glorifies aggression and anger, there’s a community of high school students who think it’s okay to respond to this new Students for Life group with digital death threats.
Reflection Directly from the Group:
As the beloved Cardinal John O’Connor has said, “If all the marches, all the prayers, all the vigils, the lectures, articles, debates and encyclicals saved but one tiny, fragile life, would not the Lord of Life say to us, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. For you not only fed me and clothed, encouraged and consoled, visited me in prison and welcomed me a stranger. You saved my life.'”
One life in the eyes of the world seems minuscule, worthless, and pointless. But in the eyes of God and of the pro-life movement, that one life is precious, priceless, and worthy of love. I delight in doing God’s work in my school through this new group. By His grace, we will give a voice to the voiceless and life to the condemned. And if, by the end of this, only one life is saved, our work would be complete. I am excited to have our group, and I can’t wait to see what God will do through it.
Seeing around two hundred and fifty comments, all on three posts, within twenty-four hours on a new Instagram page can definitely be intimidating. But I am blessed to be with some amazing people, and we have worked through it together. At times we simply just read them on the phone together and laughed it off, but most times we were putting out fires seemingly everywhere. It has been an experience, to say the least. There’s just never a dull moment.
– Gabby Carpino, Vice President of Wallkill Students for Life
“You know you’re doing a great job as a Pro-life leader when your Instagram blows up with a bunch of hateful comments. Of course you just laugh it off because you know you’re making yourself heard. This is just a reminder to keep working, and work harder, to make abortion unthinkable in America. I am excited for this club because we are ready to support pregnant and parenting students (and teachers). We want to be there for the people who need us. I’m ready to shake things up and make New York Pro-life again.”
