Just before the world was asked to stay inside, Marquette University’s Marquette for Life group completed their second annual Baby Box Project. This project emulates what Students for Life of America’s Supportive Services Pillar is all about – assisting mothers and families in need.
“Baby Box Project was our biggest effort this semester! We also did a Diaper Drive at a grocery store the week prior to get donations for the project and collected ~2000 diapers,” said Marquette for Life President, Kaela Beugnet.
With lots of preparation, Marquette for Life collaborated with their student community to put 400 baby boxes together. These beautiful baby boxes were delivered to four pregnancy centers in Milwaukee, WI.
The group started by creating an Amazon Baby Registry to collect items for the boxes which included bibs, hats, toys, clothes, and more! They advertised the registry for about a month and were even featured on the local news.
“We’d like to thank the many members of the Marquette Community who came together to make today’s Baby Box Project a huge success!!…This is what being pro-life is all about,” said the group on Facebook.
Because of this effort, 400 mothers will be given items they need, but more importantly, these mothers will know that their community supports them and is willing to walk alongside them throughout their journey of motherhood. With Mother’s Day approaching, Students for Life of America wants to give you the same opportunity to be there for families in need.
Students for Life of America is taking a deep dive into our 5 Pillars of Pro-Life Activism through an online training series and this week, we will be addressing how to help student families in need!
