The most recent United States abortion data shows:
- 1,037,000 reported abortions were committed in 2023.
- Chemical Abortions accounted for 63% of all U.S. abortions in 2023.
- 1 in 5 pregnancies (20.6%) ended in abortion in 2020.
- 43% of abortions were committed on females less than 25 years of age in 2023. That breaks down to 10% on adolescents, and 33% on women ages 20-24.
- Approximately 1/4 of American women have had an abortion by age 45.
- Abortion disproportionately affects Black and Hispanic women. Black Americans make up 13.7% of the population, yet obtained nearly 30% of the abortions in 2023.
- There were 204 abortions per 1,000 live births (about 1 in 5) in 2023. This means for every five people, there is one missing because of abortion.
- According to the most recent data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 45% of abortions are committed at six weeks or earlier; 49% at 7-13 weeks; and 7% at 14 weeks or later.
