Mia Akins grew up in Douglasville, GA and graduated from Florida International University, after studying Biology.
Mia grew up attending pro-life events with her family and church community. When Roe v. Wade was reversed, she knew she needed to become more informed on the pro-life position so she could adequately defend the preborn to her pro-choice friends. Educational materials and social media posts from Students for Life gave Mia the confidence to have effective conversations about abortion with her peers.
Mia helped found the Students for Life group at Florida International University in 2022. She then joined the National Leaders Collective program as a Standing with You fellow, and then as a Student Spokesperson.
Mia has been featured in NPR and other news outlets for her work in the pro-life movement on campus. Mia currently resides in Miami, FL and serves the Pro-Life Generation as Students for Life’s Campus Formation Coordinator. This work includes establishing new pro-life student groups at high schools and universities and supporting existing Students for Life groups.
