Why do you need to be there?
A ruling in favor of the state of South Carolina would allow the state to exclude Planned Parenthood from its Medicaid program, thereby freeing pro-life South Carolinians from being forced to subsidize abortions with their tax dollars. This could pave the way for other states to take similar actions, potentially impacting Planned Parenthood's access to state Medicaid taxpayer-funded grants nationwide.
Our prayers at the public VIGIL before the hearing on Tuesday, April 1st and our peaceful pro-life presence at the RALLY on Wednesday, April 2nd will show America & the Supreme Court that the Pro-Life Generation wants to see Planned Parenthood defunded of state tax dollars!
About the "Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic Case"
In South Carolina, using taxpayer funds to pay for abortions is prohibited. However, because money is fungible, funneling taxpayer funds to abortion facilities for any purpose indirectly subsidizes abortions.
To stop tax money from funding abortion, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster ordered the state’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to deem abortion facilities, including Planned Parenthood, unqualified to receive taxpayer-funded Medicaid grants, if they continue to commit abortions. This change redirected Medicaid funds from abortion vendors to health clinics that provide a wider range of medical services for low-income women (and don't commit abortion violence).
However, Planned Parenthood and an individual plaintiff sued the Director of the DHHS in federal court and obtained a permanent injunction that forced South Carolina to restore Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding.
Now, this case in the hands of our U.S. Supreme Court Justices, who are hearing oral arguments on Wednesday, April 2nd.
