Students for Life of America (SFLA) exists to recruit, train, and mobilize the Pro-Life Generation to abolish abortion. It’s been our mission for the last 13 years, and we’ve never lost sight of it. From our time of tiny cramped offices and a handful of employees, to today with over 50 Students for Life staff members and a brand new headquarters on the way, our driving force has not changed one bit.
We are not fighting for ourselves. And that makes all the difference for the longevity of our cause. As this year comes to a close, we’ve been crunching some numbers and reflecting, with much gratitude, about the amazing things that can happen just in one semester. Take a look below…
Just the numbers…
- 50 new Students for Life groups launched
- 10,600 students trained
- 40 mobilizations
- 435 unique campus visits
- 17,500 personal conversations on campuses
- 122 “America After Roe” campus tour stops
- 122,000 miles driven
Spreading the Truth about Abortion
Because of our supporters, 229 Students for Life groups have signed up to host a screening on Unplanned, the real life story of former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life advocate, Abby Johnson, on their campus!
Working in Catholic High Schools
In the Northeast, our NY/NJ Coordinator, Kate, has been an influential support to Diocesan High Schools. In a matter of months, she has trained over 1,300 students in Pro-Life Apologetics through assemblies or theology classes!
Sponsoring Bus Trips to Help Students Get to the National Pro-Life March
For the first time, Students for Life is subsidizing our own busses to make sure all of our student leaders from across the country have the opportunity to attend the National Pro-Life March and National Pro-Life Summit in Washington, D.C. Bus trips out of the Midwest and Ohio sold out quickly, and the Northeast, Pennsylvania, Appalachian, and Southeast busses are almost sold out as well.
A New Region, New Progress
In Florida, we’ve seen incredible momentum with having a full-time Regional Coordinator, Ryan, on the ground for the first year. So far, student groups in Florida have held 11 “Life After Roe” tour stops and had over 1,500 personal conversations! Also out of Florida, we helped high school student, Gabriel Babbard, get her group started after her administration not only denied approving it, but also threatened to fire teachers who tried to be the advisors.
Stopping Planned Parenthood
This fall, our team has begun reaching out to Christian universities who partner with or advertise Planned Parenthood to ask them to stop promoting the abortion Goliath to their student body. So far, we know of 2 universities have ended their relationship with Planned Parenthood!
When we heard Planned Parenthood secretly built a new facility in Fairview Heights, IL, we immediately started planning a rally in front of the facility. With just a couple of days advance notice, we had over 400 gather in attendance, with many local pro-life organizations/leaders represented. This facility was welcomed with open arms in Illinois, whereas Planned Parenthood is being scared away across the river in Missouri!
Planned Parenthood is trying to set up a new facility in Kansas City, KS. However, we are doing everything we can to stop this from happening. Our Students for Life Action Kansas State Captain, Kyra Lampe, testified a recent city council meeting against allowing the building permit to move forward. In addition to her own testimony, Kyra showed up with 593 signatures from students at Benedictine College, St. James Academy, and Kansas State University who all oppose having a Planned Parenthood in Kansas City.
Helping Young Mothers in Crisis
We are speaking up about student Title X rights on campuses, educating Students for Life groups through our new “Pregnant and Parenting Student Bill of Rights” about all of the resources available to pregnant and parenting students on college campuses. In return, our groups are marketing the resources and serving young women they meet on campus who are in crisis, believing abortion is their only option. This fall, we were able to go even further in our mission by providing a $6,000 scholarship to Ruth, a student we met in Colorado who had to drop out of college to support her son after courageously choosing life over abortion. Because of our supporters, Ruth has re-enrolled in school and will be getting her degree.
Charis Bible College Students for Life had a baby saved while they were doing sidewalk advocacy in Colorado Springs. An abortion-minded woman was going into Planned Parenthood when a student stopped her and guided her to the pregnancy center. Later that day, the pregnancy center confirmed that this woman was four months pregnant and is choosing life.
The University of New Mexico Students for Life had a baby save while doing sidewalk advocacy in front of Curtis Boyd’s infamous late-term abortion facility, Southwestern Woman’s Options. The woman went in for her appointment and left shortly after going in. She went out to talk to the group and chose life. The group was able to give her helpful pregnancy resources.
Our Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator, Christina, received a message over Instagram from an abortion-minded 19 year old and met up with her for coffee the next day. She felt like abortion was her best option and was being pressured by her boyfriend. They talked through everything and, after about an hour, she was eager to go their local pregnancy center. Christina took her there and sat through the counseling with her where she confidently decided to choose life. Christina continues to keep in touch and mentor her. She is due in May!
After learning from one of our Students for Life leaders that one of her friends was scheduled for an abortion at 21 weeks, we immediately got involved with the help of Sidewalk Advocates for Life. The young woman chose life for her baby girl, and our Regional Coordinator and local Students for Life group visited the new momma with baby supplies and even got to hold the sweet baby!
