Planned Parenthood is trying to set up a new facility in Kansas City, KS. They’ve said they won’t commit abortions there… but we all know what happens when we give them a “foot in the door.” Not to mention, any money going to a Planned Parenthood is helping subsidize their national abortion business.
Earlier this year, the Pro-Life Gen in Kansas City took on the mission of preventing Planned Parenthood from setting up shop. Students came from all over the state of Kansas to protest, with one bringing her 6 siblings with her. Read about that here. Then, just over two months ago, there was a major victory as the funeral home that was working with Planned Parenthood (yes, for real) decided to cut their lease. Read that story here.
But the Pro-Life Gen did not stop there. This week, the Kansas City government held their standing committee on Administration of Health and Human Services. Students for Life Action Kansas State Captain Kyra Lampe was ready and testified Monday against allowing the Planned Parenthood. In addition to her own testimony, Kyra showed up with 593 signatures from students at Benedictine College, St. James Academy, and Kansas State University who all opposed having a Planned Parenthood in Kansas City.
These students understand something that so far, the city government does not: We don’t need Planned Parenthood. There is no need for any organization that exists solely to line their own pockets by regularly lying to women, helping sex traffickers, physically harming women, selling baby parts, buying off judges to protect them… the list could go on forever. Planned Parenthood loves to say if they don’t exist, women won’t be able to receive the healthcare they need, and yet Cecile Richards (former president of PP) admitted to Congress that Planned Parenthood lied about the services they provided, such as mammograms.
Planned Parenthood also fired Leana Wen because she wanted to expand the healthcare options rather than focus on abortion. Abortion is not healthcare. We are talking about the intentional killing of a whole, unique, and living human being. Planned Parenthood knows that, but they will stop at nothing to ensure they can increase profits. That’s why Leana got the boot.
Speaking about her opportunity to testify Kyra stated, “It was really empowering to be able to speak about this issue on behalf of my club and Students for Life. I am so glad I was able to be an advocate, even if I’m just playing a part of a larger movement.” The movement Kyra talks about is huge, as more Millennials are pro-life and oppose Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton then ever before. The Pro-Life Gen doesn’t just accept that as enough, as SFLA Regional Coordinator Stephanie Lugo remarked:
“The Pro-Life gen has been working hard to demonstrate that there are better resources for women in Kansas City than Planned Parenthood. By sending letters, speaking at city government meetings, and collecting petition signatures, student leaders like Kyra have magnified the voices of their community and shown that we don’t need Planned Parenthood.”
While Planned Parenthood continues their wave of extremism, they will continue to be met by resistance from convicted leaders like Kyra.
