Pro-abortion students at Creighton University announced on Instagram that they will be protesting Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America, when she comes to speak at Creighton University this Thursday, November 14th. Hawkins is coming to campus to speak as part of her ‘Make Abortion Illegal Again’ campus tour; she has already spoken at Xavier University, Kent State, Arizona State University, Villanova University, and Liberty University.
The school has said that the demonstration is approved; while Students for Life of America supports all free-speech rights, a double-standard seems to be in effect, as it took weeks and numerous questions from the university until they finally approved our application for Kristan to speak on campus. It was only after we provided the entire speech that Kristan was scheduled to give that the university approved our application.
You can see the post about the event below, with the user’s personal information cropped out.
Stephanie Lugo, the Nebraska Regional Coordinator for Students for Life said, “We urge the protesters to come to hear Kristan talk and enter into dialogue with her about the dangers of abortion and how abortion harms and betrays women. Especially at a Catholic university, we hope that the students would be open to hearing Kristan’s message about the dignity and sanctity of human life.”
Hawkins’ speech focuses not only on the problems with Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, but also on market-based, common-sense reforms we can make to help create a society that supports families. Some topics include: occupational licensing reform, reducing the cost of daycare, reforming our healthcare system to weed out cronyism and recruit more medical care providers, and how Students for Life helps support pregnant and parenting students.
