Violence and extremism against pro-lifers has even infected high schools, as the Students for Life group at Oregon High School found out this week. Police are investigating an Instagram post that referenced violence on campus and references to the pro-life students. Pro-life students were warned by the school that they believed they were being targeted. Though currently ruled a ‘hoax’, it’s unclear if the police mean that person who made the post was joking or they mean it’s a hoax because thankfully nothing has yet to happen. It’s possible that the FBI is going to get involved, as the identity of the poster has yet to be determined.
Students were also being mocked on their Instagram post, which simply listed information about their first event and displayed photos of different Students for Life resources.
Some students defended the students’ rights to be on campus, while others (though not necessarily all students at the school) invented their own legal theories, often similar to those echoed by administrators, that ‘religious groups’ or ‘political groups’ are not allowed on campus (Students for Life is neither but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯).
Truly, you don’t know anything about the Constitution until you ask a public school administrator or pro-choice student to explain the First Amendment to you.
