The same night that Students for Life is sponsoring a showing of the pro-life movie, ‘Unplanned‘, the Women and Gender Studies Department at the taxpayer-funded University of Oklahoma is sponsoring an ‘Abortion is Love’ event.
The event on this Tuesday, October 29th, is called, “Fighting for Abortion Access Is An Act of Love” and is sponsored by the Women and Gender Studies Department, the Women and Gender Studies Center for Social Justice, and a group called Oklahoma Call for Reproductive Justice.
A FB description states, “This event will feature Oklahoma visual artist’s interpretations of the theme, ‘fighting for abortion access is an act of love,’ as well as talks from local activists and opportunities to get involved.” Oklahoma Call for Reproductive Justice is one of those groups that use religion to try to argue that it is morally okay to inject potassium chloride into a preborn baby’s heart to cause a heart attack abortion or to have a teenage girl endure a painful toilet-bowl abortion. They claim, “A merciful and loving God” supports someone’s right to have an abortion. The term ‘act of love‘ appears to come from their website.
Sarah Zarr, the Students for Life Regional Coordinator for Oklahoma sharply criticized the event saying, “We know that women who have abortions will often experience physical, emotional, and mental issues soon after or later on in life. We also know that men often use abortion to coerce women; abortion is anything but love. The pro-life generation stands for love; advocating for Title IX rights on campus, running diaper drives, and ensuring that pregnant and parenting students are protected on campus.”

Abortion is not love.
Abortion is violence against preborn babies, moms, dads, and society.
Abortion leaves people hurting.
Abortion is hateful.

Students for Life of America requested information earlier today about the costs for the abortion event, as well as the motivation behind the event. We will update this as information is acquired.
