“The Supreme Court justices have a number of life-related cases available to them to do the right thing and reconsider, reverse, and return Roe v. Wade and the issue of abortion to the American People who are ready to have a voice and a vote on abortion,” said SFLA’s Tina Whittington.
MEDIA ADVISORY: SFLA available at the Supreme Court for breaking news as event begins at 10 a.m. eastern.
WASHINGTON D.C. (10-01-19) –Students for Life of America joined a number of pro-life leaders for an event outside the U.S. Supreme Court as the 9 justices start this session in a private conference. The event marked presentation of The Moral Outcry petition that has so far been signed by approximately a quarter-million people through a group effort, including SFLA. The petition begins: “We, The People of the United States, humbly petition you to redress and correct the grave injustice and the crime against humanity which is being perpetuated by your decisions in Roe v. Wade, Doe v. Bolton, and Planned Parenthood v. Casey.”
SFLA Executive Vice President Tina Whittington joined the distinguished leaders, speaking on behalf of the pro-life generation that helped gather signature. Whittington observed, “The Supreme Court justices have a number of life-related cases available to them to do the right thing andreconsider, reverse, and return Roe v. Wade and the issue of abortion to the American People who are ready to have a voice and a vote on abortion.”
Whittington made the following remarks:
“On January 22, 1973 SEVEN members of this court sold America short. They determined that a human’s value and legal protection in the United States is based solely on location – and only those outside the womb receive it. Instead of lifting up motherhood they created a culture that pits a mother against her child, they stripped fatherhood from men, and gave us an abortion culture that gives sway to dirty facilities and gruesome abortionists like Kermit Gosnell with his house of horrors and George Klopfer who kept the remains of his victims in his home.
“But this youth generation, The Pro-life Generation, is here to say no more will our brothers and sisters in the womb go without a voice or their mothers be backed into a life ending decision. At Students for Life we work hard every day to usher in a post-Roe America on more than 1,200 campuses. We educate our peers on the humanity of the pre-born child, the harm abortion inflicts upon women both physically and emotionally, and work to bring tangible resources to empower women to choose life so that she never has to feel like she has to choose between her child and her dreams. We are ready to support her and speak out for the pre-born for as long as it takes to make sure the violence of abortion is unthinkable. We want to see Roe overturned and our country restored to one that respects all life, in every circumstance, and offers the kind of resources that empower mothers and families.
“Most people don’t understand that in the U.S., abortion is legal THROUGH ALL 9 MONTHS, for any reason whatsoever, including sex selection, and sometimes with taxpayer funding.
“We stand outside the Supreme Court, which is appropriate, because it’s courts that have given us this horrific reality, resulting in at least more than 60 million lives lost since abortion became “legal” though not moral. And that can change!
“This past January Students for Life issued a poll focusing on millennials and we found that 51 percent of those polled opposed Roe, and 65 percent support the right to vote on abortion-related policy and want a voice on abortion policy. The Millennial and Gen Z students we work with will make up the largest voting block for the next election and as you can see the majority believe that we must be ready to move at the first opportunity that opens up to see Roe overturned in the court and abortion made unthinkable and unwanted in our nation. This is why we have worked hard to gather over 90,000 of the quarter million signers for the Moral Outcry Petition – the issue of abortion matters to us and we join in the moral outcry against this violent act. Together we will abolish abortion in our lifetime!”
