Seattle University is a Catholic school in Washington. As Students for Life knows all too well, every religious school is different in its alignment with their affiliated religious teaching. But today brings us a victory as Seattle University removes Planned Parenthood from its website as a student resource!
Students for Life of America actively engages in an area we call Industry Impact – actively chipping away at the abortion industry’s influence in schools as well as other partnerships. Anything that diverts business away from the abortion industry falls into this category of Industry Impact.
As part of this activism, we sent a letter to Seattle University, notifying them of our concerns about directing young women to America’s biggest, scandal-ridden abortion vendor.
Not only were our concerns heard, but the President of the university personally responded, thanking us for pointing it out that Planned Parenthood was included as a resource! President Fr. Stephen Sundborg responded with gratitude, noting that Planned Parenthood’s presence on the site was contrary to the school’s policy (a sneaky pro-choice staff member added it, perhaps?). He then declared that it would be removed immediately.
Fr. Sundborg also emphasized that professors or visiting speakers are not permitted to directly advocate for abortion or Planned Parenthood (which are the same thing).
The moral of this story? Never be afraid to voice your concerns. If every single pro-life student in America demanded that their school not promote Planned Parenthood, the abortion giant’s favorite supply of college-aged women would all but disappear. Without access to their target clients, they have a much harder time selling them the lie that abortion is good for them.
This victory rides a wave of other similar pro-life wins happening nationwide, including school districts preventing Planned Parenthood from bringing their perverse sex ed program to grade schools, fighting government attempts to institute these programs, and kicking Planned Parenthood out of schools they already infiltrated.
