Planned Parenthood has had an absolutely garbage summer. Which is pretty darn great. In case anyone missed any of the delicious details, here’s a recap:
They Fired Their President
In mid-July, the pro-life community was shocked when Leana Wen tweeted:
She had only been the queen of abortion there for 8 months. But Planned Parenthood’s mistake was hiring a doctor. They thought that would help paint them as an actual medical institution; what they overlooked was that a doctor would actually be interested in raising their standard of care. Which they are not. They need a politically-minded abortion fighter – so out she went.
They Walked Away from $60 Million Dollars
Chump change for Planned Parenthood, really. A healthy chunk of America’s 1% (like George Soros) love throwing money at them, plenty of big corporations like Starbucks, Verizon, & Allstate give money to them, and they get a $500,000,000 check from the government every year.
But $60 million is $60 million. And they opted out of the Title X program (though they’re pretending they were forcibly removed) because Trump instituted a Protect Life Rule and they can’t part with abortion. It turns out that abortion really doesn’t fit in well with “family planning.” At least, not for civilized humans.
Spoiler Alert: they probably aren’t even going to lose money here. Anyone remember their scuffle with Susan G. Komen in 2012? Back in the day, Komen gave over $600,000 to Planned Parenthood in the name of “women’s health,” but decided they had to call it quits since the abortion vendor doesn’t even do mammograms. Another reason cited was that they couldn’t donate to an organization under federal investigation (lol). The plan was to depart amicably, but Planned Parenthood is not friendly.
They went on the attack, berating the breast cancer group and fundraising millions more than they were receiving in the first place. After the aggressive rebuttal, Komen was bullied into returning the grants. Because that’s how Planned Parenthood operates – unbridled, money-driven aggression.
So to recap:
- Planned Parenthood got $600k a year from Komen.
- Then fundraised $3 million in 3 days from angry abortion supporters when Komen pullled out in 2012.
- Then in 2014, they bullied Komen back into giving them the $600k a year.
A similar play is already happening here. Planned Parenthood is great at marketing and muddying the waters where it benefits them. So now, people think Planned Parenthood is a victim, and stoop to aid them whenever they think the rest of us are “being mean.” It doesn’t help that they own the Democratic Party. Exhibit A: The state of New Jersey is already jumping to throw a bunch of money at them in the wake of the Protect Life Rule.
They Had to Shell Out $3 Million to a Staff Whistle-blower
This one is extra great. Backstory:
Mayra Rodriguez at one point ran three abortion facilities for Planned Parenthood in the southwest. But Planned Parenthood started retaliating and punishing her when, “she exposed negative health complications for women using their services” according to Townhall.com.
Townhall reported, “Specifically, Rodriguez reported ‘high complication rates for one abortionist’ and also ‘exposed the abortionist’s illegal conduct falsification of affidavits and patient records, incomplete abortions, and failure to report a minor who had an adult partner and was a victim of statutory rape.’”
The abortionist was bad news. Even for an abortionist. He forced his assistants to sign documents PRIOR to the abortions that said all procedures were followed correctly. Perhaps they were prophetic abortion assistants.
The trial in Arizona concluded last Friday, coming back in Mayra’s favor and awarding her $3 million of Planned Parenthood’s money for her trouble.
Kentucky Told Them They Can’t Use Their Pretty New Facility
Planned Parenthood of Indiana & Kentucky (PPINK) fairly recently built a big new abortion facility in downtown Louisville, scenically-located in a sketchy part of town surrounded by decrepit factories (plus four schools and five churches). It was perfect; placed in a low-income area since they target poor families to abort their kids, fenced parking lot in front so sidewalk counselors couldn’t tell women about better options, nestled in Kentucky’s most Democrat city so they had a better chance of getting away with stuff.
Then came a HARD STOP when pro-life Governor Matt Bevin said, “Nope, no license for you.” Why? Because they terminated 23 children before they had a license to do so. And they got busted. So no more abortions until further notice.
What Does It All Mean?
Planned Parenthood only cares about abortion. Without it, they fall apart. They’ve been trying for years to pretend that the other care they provide matters to them. But lately, they’ve been as honest as they’ve ever been about their true motives. We’ve had a great year so far, but the pro-life movement can’t afford to bask in our victories; the war’s not over. The pink giant still gets a $500,000,000 check cut from the feds every year, paid for by us. It’s time we hold Washington to their big promise: a FULL defund of an organization who never deserved a cent.
