After Governor Ralph Northam of Virginia embarrassed himself by saying that parents and doctors should be allowed to kill a baby that has survived an abortion, you would think members of his Party would be in a rush to distance themselves and prove they oppose infanticide.
Instead, many in the Democratic Party have instead embraced infanticide, and there is a possibility it may end up in their 2020 platform (of course, they probably won’t phrase it that way).
For the 80th time this session, House Democrats have rejected unanimous consent requests by House Republicans to vote Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. Only three House Democrats have signed on to the discharge petition to force a vote on the legislation, which would further federal protections against infanticide.
At a recent rally, President Trump noted, “Virtually every top Democrat also now supports late-term abortion, ripping babies straight from the mother’s womb, right up until the moment of birth, and, in the case of the Virginia governor—he’s having a rough, rough time,” Trump said. “The doctor talks to the mother. The baby is now born … and then they decide whether or not to execute the baby. That is why I have asked Congress to prohibit extreme late-term abortion, is because Republicans believe that every child is a sacred gift of God.”
New records show that at least 40 babies have been born alive during an attempted abortion in the past three years. However, there are likely many more cases, since many states do not have reporting requirements.

In a recent Fox News op-ed, former Planned Parenthood facility director Abby Johnson wrote of the importance of reporting requirements.
“Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry likes to turn a blind eye to babies born alive after botched abortions because the scenarios are rightly gruesome and cruel — and late-term abortions are profitable, often costing thousands of dollars. The baby suffers, the mother suffers, the abortion workers who are forced to deal with a baby who should not be there, suffer.
While this may sound difficult to believe, it is true. The facts about babies born alive after induced terminations aren’t coming from a pro-life organization. The numbers are reported through state health departments or through the National Centers for Disease Control.”
