The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is committing late-term abortions on campus, according to a former Dean of Student Affairs at the university who is now the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood.
This and other alarming information was revealed on April 16th at a med school event for students. Medical Students for Choice at the Colorado University-Anschutz campus hosted Kristina Tocce, the former Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and professor at the school, and now the Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains. During the Q and A session, Tocce admitted several shocking facts, chief among them that late-term abortions are committed on campus at the UC-Health University hospital.
Christina Coffman, the Rocky Mountain Regional Coordinator for Students for Life of America inquired about abortion clinicals then asked Tocce, “Do we also have abortions on the campus hospital?”.
“The University of Colorado does have abortion services in the OR, they are usually for patients with significant um medical risk factors, or pregnancies that are advanced gestation.”
This is contradictory to what Dan Weaver, a spokesman for the university system told Students for Life in August, 2018. Weaver told Students for Life that the hospital does not provide elective terminations. When pressed on this, Weaver stated, “If there’s an emergency medical condition that’s threatening the life of the mother, for example, then physicians will talk to the patient and family members if she’d like, and together, they would decide what emergency treatments should be performed.” Weaver did not respond to a follow-up e-mail sent in late May.
In other words, only in life-threatening situations, does the hospital’s Women’s Care Clinic commit abortions. Tocce seems to say that the mere fact the baby is in advanced gestation justification.
Coffman also asked Tocce about Down Syndrome abortions, and Tocce said that she is “comfortable with providing abortion services” and that she doesn’t personally make the patient share their reason for having an abortion. This is very concerning. Doctors should be having conversations with their patients about why they are considering any medical procedure, and it’s quite common to discuss risk factors. We are finding , some abortionists and OB/GYNS are known to pressure people into aborting.
To top it off, security kicked out a doctor who works at the hospital, Tom Jensen, for asking Tocce about sovereign zone arguments for abortion. Tocce responded; “I don’t think we’re going to have a productive conversation about that, so I would say I don’t advocate for child abuse…”. Jensen is then asked to leave the Q and A and is escorted out by two security guards. Coffman recalls that “Dr. Jensen was polite and respectful the entire time. There wasn’t a good reason to remove him from the talk. It was pure intolerance.”
Students for Life of America does not believe taxpayers, at any level, should be forced to fund abortions through their taxpayer dollars.
