Defying the national Democratic Party, which might soon support infanticide as part of its national 2020 platform, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed a bi-partisan heartbeat bill that will protect babies from abortion once a heartbeat is detected.
According to Fox News, “The fetal heartbeat abortion ban applies to pregnancies as early as six weeks, before some woman even know they are pregnant and include exceptions only for “medically futile” instances where the mother’s health is at risk or the baby is stillborn. The bill necessitates an ultrasound to confirm pregnancy and does not include exceptions for women who were victims of rape and incest.”

Unsurprisingly, his Democratic colleagues, many of whom want to eliminate all restrictions on abortion and impose infanticide on the nation, criticized the governor.
I'll say it again: In this political climate, I will only support Democrats for office who will defend a woman's constitutional right to an abortion. https://t.co/9IAEUEOVl0

Dangerous attacks on women’s constitutional right to an abortion are outrageous no matter what party you’re in. My message to the Gov. of Louisiana: women have agency, women have value, women have authority to make decisions about their own lives—and we will not go backward. https://t.co/oi7vgy90ej

The heartbeat will follows a series of winning weeks for the pro-life movement, with Georgia, Alabama, Missouri also passing and signing strong pro-life laws.
Kristen Day, the executive director of Democrats for Life said in response to Democratic backlash to Governor Bel Edwards, “It’s all about abortion, they just don’t want anyone who opposes abortion in the party. They’re kicking people out of the party instead of trying to bring people in…”
Unless the Democrats continue their war against Pro-Life Democrats who will stay home in 2020 instead of voting for a candidate like @SenGillibrand. She clearly does not want "our kind" in the Dem party nor does she want our vote. EVERY vote matters. #DiversityandInclusion https://t.co/ssUE2B7R7n

Students for Life of America looks forward to a day when both parties work to abolish abortion. Writing recently in Fox News, Students for Life of America president Kristan Hawkins criticized the Democratic Party’s position on abortion, writing, “The value placed on life in the womb heads the list, as the Democratic Party has become so radicalized in favor of abortion that legislators are willing to allow babies born during an abortion to suffer and die. This is not a life of the mother, health of the mother concern as the baby lies separate and in need. And yet 44 U.S. Senators voted against requiring care for a struggling infant, including all the Senators contending for the presidency. On the House side right now, pro-life leaders are urging passage of a discharge petition for the “Abortion Survivors Act” to force a vote in favor of care for such children, something that should not be controversial even for those who support abortion….”
