With the 2020 Presidential Election already underway, you’re bound to hear soon about issues like taxes, foreign policy, terrorism, and the economy. But one issue that keeps dogging Democratic Party leadership, including 2020 Presidential candidates, is where their party stands on the issue of infanticide (again, it’s WILD that we are even having this discussion in 2019). For some moderate Democrats, especially pro-life Catholic Democrats, they may not want to bring up this issue, or they are quietly embarrassed at their own party for lurching so far to the Left they bumped Marx on the way through.
When your Democrat friend tells you his or her party does not support infanticide, though, you need to be prepared to respond to their arguments. It’s likely that at some point the Democrats may actually add support for infanticide into their platform. Here’s just some proof that Democratic Party leaders support infanticide:
- Beto O’Rourke, a former Congressman from Texas who is most famous for losing a Senate race to Ted Cruz in 2018, has repeatedly said that he opposes legislation such as the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, calling third-trimester abortions a women’s right. Below, you can see one such exchange:
- All Democratic Senators, including independent Bernie Sanders, voted against Ben Sasse’s Born-Alive legislation. As Ben Sasse pointed out in an op-ed, “That’s simply the bare minimum in humane treatment, and every Republican and Democrat should be able to affirm it. It’s not complicated: You’re either with babies, or you’re for infanticide. But some Senate Democrats blocked this anti-infanticide legislation — some of the same politicians who consistently promise to fight for the weak, the vulnerable and the voiceless. We weren’t talking about abortion, “special circumstances,” “clumps of cells.” We were talking about infanticide, about a newborn baby boy or baby girl, alone and cold on an abortion-clinic table.”
- As of this writing, the Democrats have now blocked legislation 30 times that would prohibit infanticide. According to LifeNews, “This is the 30th time in total that Congressional Democrats thwarted an attempt by Republicans to vote on a bill that would provide medical care and treatment for babies who provide survived failed abortions — 28 times in the House and twice in the Senate.Rep. Russ Fulcher, an Idaho Republican, offered the unanimous consent request to allow a vote on the anti-infanticide bill but Democrats, as shown below, ruled it out of order. As they have done numerous times, after Democrats denied his request to vote on the bill, they cut off Congressman Fulcher’s microphone so he could not object to their denying a vote.”
Michele Hendrickson, a Maryland resident and the Eastern Regional Director of Students for Life of America commented, “The Democratic Party’s extremism on abortion is alienating voters like myself who hold generally liberal views on issues like the environment, economics, and education, but are pro-life. Their extremism and contradictory views on helping marginalized people push away voters like myself who rarely have an opportunity to vote for a pro-life Democrat.”
Previously, 44 U.S. Senators, including leading Democratic Presidential contenders, actually voted to allow an infant, born and struggling for life, to be thrown out like garbage. Students for Life Action has already led protests against the Senators running for President who voted in favor of infanticide and will be prepared to remind voters about how their legislators addressed the barbarism of legal infanticide.
