WASHINGTON D.C. (03-20-19) — Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins this week sent a personal invitation to Planned Parenthood President Leana Wen, to see the movie “Unplanned” with her after it opens in theaters to the general public on March 29. “There are two sides to every story, Leana, and I’d like to invite you to learn more about the experience of others working in Planned Parenthood who saw the humanity in preborn life.”
She continued: “Unplanned is a great movie about my friend Abby Johnson’s journey from abortion facility director to pro-life activist. She represents a generation of women who found Planned Parenthood to be a business focused on profits that ignored the people most impacted by abortion, the preborn. Leana, I challenge you to join me in a theatre near you for a look at the abortion industry from the perspective of someone who knows it as you do. If you join me, I’ll make a $5,000 contribution to your alma mater, Washington University School of Medicine.”
According to the filmmakers, “All Abby Johnson ever wanted to do was help women. As one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the nation, she was involved in upwards of 22,000 abortions and counseled countless women about their reproductive choices. Her passion surrounding a woman’s right to choose even led her to become a spokesperson for Planned Parenthood, fighting to enact legislation for the cause she so deeply believed in.”
As part of SFLA educational efforts on the reality of abortion, the team has worked to promote the groundbreaking movie; following a tour SFLA organized with Gosnell the movie showings on more than 90 campuses. Recently, actress Robia Scott, who plays Cheryl, a Planned Parenthood staffer, spoke at the 2019 Students for Life National Conference.
