Students for Life Action Calls on House to Protect Children Born During Abortions
“Where a child is born should not determine whether they can be left to die,” said SFL Action’s Kristan Hawkins. “The Pro-Life Generation will be calling on the U.S. House to resist Infanticide by supporting the discharge petition on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.”
WASHINGTON D.C. (03-14-19) –Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins pledged that the Pro-Life Generation nationwide was gearing up to ensure that voters know just how their Senators and Representatives voted on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, a measure to prevent legal infanticide. In February, the Senate failed to win passage of the measure because they could not reach a super majority. Currently the issue is before the U.S. House as a vote for a discharge petition on the bill. “All the abortion vendor sales pitches are moot when it comes to the ‘BornAlive’ bill as the mother’s health cannot be used as a justification for causing the death of a baby who has been born and deserves care,” said Hawkins.
“It’s tragic that 44 U.S. Senators, including leading Democratic Presidential contenders, actually voted to allow an infant, born and struggling for life, to be thrown out like garbage. That vote will not be forgotten, and it’s why students with Students for Life Action already has led protestsagainst the Senators running for President who voted in favor of infanticide. SFL Action calls on members of the House to vote for the dischargepetition bringing this crucial issue forward for a vote, and we will be getting out the word that a vote for the discharge petition is a vote to #ResistInfanticide and for Life.”
As noted by the Washington Post, “A discharge petition is a procedural tactic that allows an absolute majority of the House of Representatives (218 lawmakers) to force a floor vote on a bill, even if leaders who control the House floor oppose the measure.” To read more from SFLA on the item, click here.

In a poll recently commissioned by Students for Life of America, about 7 in 10 Millennials – now the nation’s largest voting bloc – supported limits on abortion. Significantly, the poll also found that only 7 percent shared the position of the Democratic Party Platform – abortion without any exceptions and funded by tax dollars.
