On Wednesday, February 27, hundreds of Colorado pro-lifers gather at the state capitol to oppose a plan to institute so-called “comprehensive sex ed”, which is code for allowing groups like Planned Parenthood and Advocates for Youth to write sex ed curriculum for the whole state. The legislation, HB 1032 would essentially allow groups like Planned Parenthood to write sex ed curriculum in the state. The language in the legislation is also overly vague, which should worry Colorado parents:
The bill clarifies content requirements for public schools that offer comprehensive human sexuality education and prohibits instruction from explicitly or implicitly teaching or endorsing religious ideology or sectarian tenets or doctrines, using shame-based or stigmatizing language or instructional tools, employing gender norms or gender stereotypes, or excluding the relational or sexual experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender individuals.
According to Christina Coffman, the Rocky Mountains Regional Coordinator for Students for Life, “The prayer rally had about 300 people attend, both community members and students. We also lined up meetings with numerous state legislators’ offices including Senator Rhonda Fields, Brittany Pettersen, Faith Winter, Jim Smallwood and Larry Corwder. “
The Pro-Life Generation knows that Planned Parenthood sex ed does not belong in our schools. Using terms like “medically accurate” and “age appropriate”, Planned Parenthood and their allies have taught things like:
- Teaching kids about BDSM, including using whips, chains and gagging.
- Teaching eleven-year-olds about anal and oral sex.
- Recently, Planned Parenthood also introduced a chatbot that allows kids to go behind their parents back to ask about sex and abortion.
Students for Life Action and pro-life Colorado residents also spoke out several weeks ago at a rally against the legislation, and will be attending a hearing on Thursday, February 28th.
