“Transforming our public education system into an abortion marketing franchise destroys the purpose of our schools; we should be building up the next generation, not destroying it”, said Rachel Haering, CSULB student and pro-life leader.
LONG BEACH, CA (2-27-19)–
On Wednesday, February 28th, the Cal-State Long Beach Associated Students, Inc (ASI), will consider passing a resolution instructing the Lobby Corps to support Senate Bill 24, which would force all four-year public colleges in the state to distribute the RU-486 abortion drug through their campus health centers. This is almost identical to Senate Bill 320, which was passed by the legislature but vetoed by Governor Jerry Brown last September.
CSULB Students for Life President Rachel Hearing, a junior at the school, reacted to this news, saying, “Pregnant students need our support. They need to believe that they CAN have their child and continue to pursue their education. We need to empower them with the tools for success, not tell them there is only one way out. They need choices, and the only choice SB 24 says they have is abortion.”
The CSULB Students for Life participated in 2 lobby days in Sacramento opposing SB-320, tabled on campus numerous times collecting signatures, attended a protest at the CSU Chancellor’s Office, held an administrative meeting with the CSULB President asking her to vocally oppose SB320, hosted numerous legislative call days, hosted the SB320 Toilet display and collected about 70 signatures opposing SB320.
