“This is the kind of policy change that Millennials, the nation’s largest voting bloc, support. Healthcare dollars should fund real, full-service medical care, not abortion vendors,” said SFLA’s Kristan Hawkins.
WASHINGTON D.C. (02-22-19) –Responding to news that Title X Family Planning Rule changes have been officially finalized (also known as the Protect Life Rule), Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins noted that the more than 1,220 SFLA groups nationwide had worked tirelessly to support the changes and made the following remarks: “We are celebrating the newly finalized Title X rules that will redirect some taxpayer resources away from abortion vendors like Planned Parenthood, making more than half-a-billion from us all. This is a life-saving policy change, as abortion vendors have used these family planning resources to underwrite their deadly enterprise.
“The radicalized abortion industry as seen in blatant support for virtual infanticide in late-term abortions must be defunded in every program. This is the on-going priority for Students for Life and the Pro-life Generation because we know that our own money is being used against us and future generations. This is the kind of policy change that Millennials, the nation’s largest voting bloc, support. Healthcare dollars should fund real, full-service medical care, not abortion vendors.”
Students for Life of America commissioned a poll in January of Millennials views on Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood. By about a 3 to 1 margin, Millennials said they preferred that their tax monies went to Federally Qualified Health Centers rather than the abortion giant, Planned Parenthood. In fact, only 7 percent supported the Democratic Party Platform of abortion through all 9 months without exceptions and funded by tax dollars.
Earlier this year, Hawkins made the following comments about those who opposed the new Protect Life Rule policy: “These changes are long overdue as abortion is not healthcare or birth control and many women want natural healthcare choices rather than hormone-induced changes. You can really see how insidiously entangled the abortion industry is in our government run healthcare programs when abortion allies in Congress get apoplectic because family planning programs don’t require a sales pitch to end the lives of family members.
“Does anyone believe that the 266 Planned Parenthood clinics that sell abortions as well as birth control don’t try to increase their profits by also pushing for the end of preborn life when women pass through their doors? The Trump Administration has every right to require that Title X programs focus on healthcare, not abortion, and to keep such programs aimed at helping women make a plan for a family outside of the facilities designed to making sure women don’t have a family at all.”
