Over the weekend, posters promoting black, pro-life speaker Ryan Bomberger at Robert Morris University were targeted for destruction. Robert Morris University Students for Life put up posters on campus promoting the event, but found their fliers repeatedly vandalized.
According to Selene Cerankosky, president of Students for Life at RMU, this happened several times throughout the weekend.
“I’m really getting sick and tired of this nonsense. They have no right to vandalize my flyers- they have the required Student Life stamp of approval to not be torn down. If people are so weak and close-minded that a mere paper sporting a different opinion makes them turn destructive- they shouldn’t be in college,” said Selene.
Liana Hollendonner, Students for Life Regional Coordinator for Pennsylvania, commented on the vandalism, saying, “We have seen this targeted violence before against pro-lifers. Unfortunately, this happens when schools do not publicly denounce violence against pro-lifers and come out in support of free-speech.”
This follows a vandalism on Thursday, January 31st, at University of Alaska-Fairbanks, where a student-sponsored Cemetery of the Innocents was also destroyed.
Arctic Students for Life wrote,
“Each flag (1,000 total) represents 3 deaths by abortion per day in the U.S.Unfortunately, we experienced some vandalism on our display here at UAF. However, we were able to have some good discussions with students on the pro-life cause and are glad to be able to get students thinking about the atrocities of abortion. #WeAreTheProLifeGeneration.”
The matter was reported to the police and the police found the vandal and made her put the display back up.
Students for Life of Robert Morris University, despite the attempts to silence them, hosted Ryan Bomberger for a very successful event of 72 attendees! Hopefully the group’s admirer decided to show up to the event and had a change of heart. You never know!
