Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran, a Planned Parenthood-backed Democrat, recently proposed legislation to legalize abortions up until the moment of birth. This follows similar efforts in states like Rhode Island, where Students for Life team members and students recently spoke out against the legislation, and Vermont to legalize abortion up until the moment of birth. Although New York has been receiving most of the attention, it is just the beginning of the Democratic Party’s race to strip away any sort of limits on abortions.
And though it’s scary that we have to say this, we must #ResistInfanticide.
But back to Tran, the promoter of infanticide. During a committee hearing on the legislation, Tran went back and forth with Delegate Gilbert on what the legislation would allow. Tran admitted that her proposed legislation would allow abortionists to kill babies up until the moment of birth, even those abortions are never medically necessary.
Interestingly enough, Raimondo’s chief opponents in limiting this extremism are not even Republicans, who are few and far between in the Rhode Island legislature, but pro-life Democrats. On the same day the extreme Rhode Island bill was debated, a pro-life Democrat made his case for defining life at the moment of conception.
And yet, Millennials, who both parties want to court as voters, reject this extremism on abortion, according to a recent poll our Institute for Pro-Life Advancement conducted. For example, we found that:
- 7 of 10 Millennials support limits on abortion through specific policies like parental notification, limiting abortions later in pregnancy like at 5 months of pregnancy, and opposition to government funding of abortion.
- Only 7 percent shared the position of the Democratic Party Platform – abortion without any exceptions and funded by tax dollars.
- More Millennials than not support Roe’s reversal. Asked directly about support for overturning Roe and returning abortion to the states, 41 percent supported Roe’s reversal.
- 65 percent of Millennials support the right to vote on abortion-related policy and want a voice on abortion policy
