“Clearly, this kind of legislation is an attempt to create legal infanticide, as viable babies are aborted, to the cheers of abortion extremists,” said Hawkins. “Whether in Virginia, in Rhode Island or in any state where radical abortion zealots target viable, pre-born babies, Students for Life of America will be there to #ResistInfanticide.”
FREDERICKSBURG, VA and WASHINGTON D.C. (01-30-19) –“With the cheers of New York legislators and Governor Andrew Cuomo over the signing of now a law allowing abortion up to the moment of birth still ringing in our ears, Virginia legislators rush to join in, essentially working for legal infanticide,” said Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins, responding to a horrifying video of Virginia Democrat Delegate Kathy Tran. In the video out today, Tran acknowledged that her bill would allow for an abortion even as the mother is dilating for birth. “Clearly, this kind of legislation is an attempt to create legal infanticide, as viable babies are aborted, to the cheers of abortion extremists,” said Hawkins. “Whether in Virginia, in Rhode Island or in any state where radical abortion zealots target viable, pre-born babies, Students for Life of America will be there to #ResistInfanticide.”With more than 50 SFLA student groups in Virginia, students will be engaged to voice their opposition to the extremism Tran illustrated in supporting abortion during birth. Recently, SFLA polled Millennials about their views on abortion and Roe v. Wade finding that only 7 percent support the radical agenda found in the Democratic Party Platform of abortion through all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason (including sex selection) and sometimes with taxpayer dollars.
Sadly, New York is not alone in embracing that radical policy. Reported by the Christian Post “(t)he seven (now eight) states that have no gestational limits on abortion are: Alaska, Colorado, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Vermont, along with Washington, D.C.”
Students for Life was also engaged in Rhode Island this week as the state house judiciary committee looked at five abortion-related bills.
“Students for Life of America is ready for the ground game of defending life nationwide,” said Hawkins. “And as our poll shows, 65 percent of Millennials are ready to vote on abortion-related policy. It’s time for our voices to be heard on behalf of women and their preborn children, rather than deferring to the heavy-handed paternalism of a few judges.”
