“Our schools should be a place where students go to prepare for their future lives, not where we make ending life a priority,” said Students for Life of America’s Kristan Hawkins.
WASHINGTON D.C. (12-05-18) –Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins said that the renewed effortby California legislators to force chemical abortion drugs onto university and college campuses was “a dangerous plan that ignores the health risks of such drugs to women and undermines the purpose of university life. Our schools should be a place where students go to prepare for their future lives, not where we make ending life a priority.”
Students for Life successfully opposed the effort to put RU-486 in all college and university health centers last legislative session, and Gov. Jerry Brown vetoed the effort citing the easy access to abortionnear campuses as a reason to oppose the drastic changes be proposed for student health centers.
Students for Life Fresno State Student President Bernadette Tasy reacted to the disappointing news with a pledge to continue to fight to protect women and preborn infants from the dramatic new effort, now SB 24, noting, “We are ready to fight back again. We are the Pro-life Generation. California get ready, because we’re ready to stand for life.”

As Kristan Hawkins has written:“The FDA reports that these drug-induced abortions have led to cases of extreme bleeding, infection and incomplete abortions requiring surgery, and even to the deaths of women. The drugs are especially dangerous to women who are later in pregnancy or experiencing an ectopic pregnancy, both conditions which must be determined by an ultrasound (using equipment not usually found in a college health center).” You can learn more about the medical realities of chemical abortions here.
