“This confirmation process became a brutal gauntlet because it was a proxy war over issues like abortion,” said SFLA’s Kristan Hawkins, “but the Pro-Life Generation stood firm because we understood the stakes and believe that the Supreme Court needs judges committed to the rule of law, not political activism. “
WASHINGTON D.C. (10-06-18) –Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins praised the U.S. Senators who voted today to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. “Today the Senate did its job, refusing to be held hostage to political games and unfounded accusations, and advancing this highly qualified nominee. It’s tragic that the process broke down to this degree, but the reason the Pro-Life Generation has worked tirelessly for this nominee is because we understand the importance of the Supreme Court.
“As those who opposed Judge Kavanaugh said themselves, this confirmation process became a brutal gauntlet because it was a proxy war over issues like abortion. But the Pro-Life Generation stood firm because we understood the stakes and believe that the Supreme Court needs judges committed to the rule of law, not political activism. When the next vacancy occurs on the high court, Students for Life staff and student leaders will be ready to again fight for courts where life is respected and protected.”

Over the course of the summer, Students for Life staff and student leaders
tirelessly traveled across the country on a #Justice4Life tour, holding more than 50 events in 5 key states, though students engaged in other states as well. SFLA toured with five wrapped vans in West Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, North Dakota, and Alaska where we met with Senate offices in each of these states (and more) to push for the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh. Since then, SFLA has been on Capital Hill, and encouraged students from our more than 1,200 groups in all 50 states to make their voices heard in favor of a Supreme Court where life is respected in law. You can see more of the SFLA’s #Justice4Life events here.Abortion was central to the debate over Kavanaugh’s confirmation.
