Day 2: #Justice4Life: Success in Alaska and North Dakota!
The Alaska team, which traveled across the state and from other states just to push for Kavanaugh’s confirmation, met with Senators Sullivan and Murkowski to ask them to confirm Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
While Senator Sullivan is expected to vote yes, Murkowski is considered a potential no vote, because, although being a Republican, she generally supports the abortion lobby. But, Students for Life is persuasive and we feel confident she will vote the right way and confirm Kavanaugh to be a #Justice4Life!
The Alaska team is going to have a very busy week, traveling between Anchorage and Fairbanks multiple times because they know how important this nomination is!
But, Alaska isn’t the only team tha
t had a busy day! Here’s what Noah Maldonado, Northern Regional Coordinator for SFLA had to say about their time so far in North Dakota.
“The people of Grand Forks are so beautiful! The vibrance of this intimate community made our work light as a feather as we engaged people on the streets in dialogue about Kavanaugh and the value of human life. We spent much of our day taking surveys and hearing the many perspectives that people had to offer. We practiced approaching each person with empathy, trying to truly hear where they were coming from, and this process led to many fruitful conversations, some of which revealed the scarring that has occured in their lives through the tragedy of abortion.
However, things didn’t stop there. We visited the Women’s Pregnancy Center, where we had the privilege of experiencing the immense joy of a mother and father who are choosing life. We got to see, many of us for the first time, the miracle of an ultrasound. We saw the fingers and toes of this precious young baby, and we could see the joy radiating from this beautiful new mother.
We had a time of reflection with the staff, and it was clear beyond a doubt that we were in the presence of love more pure than all of the gold the world has to offer. If joy, beauty, trust, and hope were sisters, then we were at their family reunion. These women have dedicated their lives to serving the needs of every mother in their community, no matter their circumstances… and their ministry was working.”
