On August 4th, Students for Life staff, students, and community members took to the sidewalks outside of abortion facilities nationwide. Many SFLA students already participate in sidewalk counseling on their own, but Sidewalk Day provides a great opportunity to do something as a broader movement and encourage students who have never tried counseling before. The third annual National Sidewalk Day was a huge success, bringing with it some great testimonies:
“We had our Crusaders for Life group bring about 100 students outside of the Planned Parenthood in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They had their drumline and huge “Life is beautiful” banner!” – David Cordaro, Upper Midwest Regional Coordinator. Check out the video here.
Western Director (and new mom) Reagan Barklage took a group of 6 people to do sidewalk counseling at a sketchy Illinois facility that has no restrictions or waiting periods for abortion. The lack of limitations draws people in from out of state, making the facility an abortion hotspot. Reagan noted that “20 girls showed up by 8 am and the abortionist arrived around 930.” We pray that their witness saved lives.
Take a look below at all the awesome pictures captured by participants over the weekend! Their presence is such a testament to life and it is our hope that they made a life-changing difference for the women (and men) who had appointments that day.
We are so happy to be able to help get pro-life students out on the sidewalks. Young women who find themselves at the doors of abortion facilities need to see young faces they can identify with. Feeling like there’s someone who understands them as a peer can make all the difference – including helping them turn around.
