EDWARDSVILLE, IL and FREDERICKSBURG, VA (4-9-18)–
Only days after vandals targeted SIUE Students for Life’s Cemetery of the Innocents display, vandals have again targeted the students, destroying chalkings with pro-life messages the group had chalked around campus as part of its Pro-Life Week. The group had chalked on the ground around 9 pm on Wednesday, April 4th and the chalk was destroyed sometime between then and approximately 130 pm on Thursday, April 5th.
The group said in a statement that, “We had a successful Pro-Life Week. While the vandals may believe they are going to prevent us from sharing our message, nothing will get in the way of us continuing to reach out to pregnant and parenting students and letting them know we are here to support them. We appreciate the school’s work in investigating the matter and we hope the vandals realize they cannot stop us from actively sharing our message.”
Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America said, “We support the students for continuing to share their pro-life messages and not being swayed by the anti-free-speech and anti-life ideas of a few vandals on their campus.”
