NEW YORK CITY (03-12-18) – Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins announced today that Wall Street Journal editorial writer William McGurn will be the keynote speaker at SFLA’s upcoming Momentum Gala the evening of Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. “Whether writing in some of the nation’s leading news outlets or during his time as chief speechwriter for President George W. Bush, Bill has penned some of the most thoughtful commentary of our time on the necessity of a pro-life worldview as a foundation for affirming the humanity and civil rights of us all. We look forward to his remarks on why the pro-life issue is important for all of us, born and preborn,” said Hawkins. Also addressing the attendees will be Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, well-known for his leadership as a pro-life advocate.

McGurn’s thoughtful analysis of the life issue was showcased in remarks he made to Notre Dame, his alma mater in 2009. “Abortion as a legal right is less a single issue than an entire ethic that serves as the foundation s tone for the culture of death,” he observed, adding later in his remarks, “The unborn child’s right to life represents the defining civil rights issue of our day.”
Hawkins noted, “The Pro-Life Generation sees abortion as the human rights issue of our time, which motivates our more than 1,200 student-run chapters nationwide. At the Gala, we will also be highlighting pro-life victories and champions, celebrating those who are committed to restoring protection to all in the law and to helping both mother and child with whatever they need not just to survive but to thrive.”
