The California State University-Fullerton Students for Life group has been working really hard this year to establish a positive, supportive, life-affirming presence on campus.
Though they face an extremely liberal campus, they are out on Titan Walk monthly, with smiles on their faces, to assure their presence is known and their voices are heard. In the fall, they hosted a “resource table” where they handed out flyers, post cards and messages of support for pregnant, parenting and post abortive students.
In an effort to walk the walk, the students began planning a baby shower in December. They wanted to do something extra-specifically for pregnant and parenting students on their campus. After meeting pregnant mom, Judith, a music major, and parenting mom, Cat, they began planning a shower to bring the Pregnant on Campus Initiative to life!
The shower was filled with food, games, gifts, a photo booth and prizes. Students from across Orange County participated bringing books, toys, towels, blankets, bibs, bottles, gift cards and more. Over 500 diapers were donated to the girls. Everyone in attendance was encouraged to write an uplifting message on each diaper to give Judith and Cat encouragement when they are changing their little ones in the wee hours of the night or in the middle of a busy day. It was amazing to see the joy this event brought to the mom’s and to the community. This amazing group is already planning the next shower.
