We’ve got exciting news for the club leaders who are attending our leadership summits! We’re partnering with Equal Rights Institute to provide the apologetics talks at most of our summits. They’ve expressed an interest in staying several days after some of the leadership summits in order to meet with club leaders for coffee and do more speaking events. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to get some one-on-one time with some of the leading experts in pro-life philosophy and dialogue techniques.
The thing is, they’re not going to be able to do extended trips after each leadership summit, so they’ll be picking the regions based on interest from club leaders. They’ve set up quick surveys that you can take to let them know about your interest in this opportunity. I’ll let them explain more below:
ERI speakers (either Josh or Timothy Brahm) will be handling the apologetics for the SFLA Leadership Summits in CO, NC, TX, KY, WI, VA, and NY this fall. We’ve decided that for several of these trips we’re going to stay an extra several days, in order to speak at local campuses as well as meet with club leaders one-on-one.
Why do we want to meet with club leaders? Two reasons. First, it’s common for us to get questions regarding pro-life apologetics and outreach strategies from club members. College students are our main demographic, and since we’re going to be in your area anyway, we’re willing to invest some time for you to pick our brains. Secondly, we want to promote the Equipped for Life online training course we’re publishing this year. (You can read more about the course in our last newsletter: PDF download.) We’ve designed it to be the most practical and affordable way for a student club to get top notch training in pro-life dialogue. We’d love to answer any questions you have about it and get your suggestions.
Unfortunately, we’re not going to be able to make every SFLA leadership summit trip an extended trip this fall, so we’ll be deciding which cities to spend extra time in based on the responses to this survey. If there are ten club leaders that want to meet with us in Denver and only two club leaders that want to meet in Dallas, obviously we’ll spend the extra hotel and rental car money on staying longer in Denver. This survey is solely to help us determine interest from club leaders so that we can be wise with our limited resources. If we can serve you and several of your fellow students in the area, we would be happy to do that.
Given that, obviously you filling out this survey is not a guarantee that we’ll be able to see you. Our goal will be to see as many club leaders as possible, and if there’s enough interest in your region, it’s likely that we’ll be able to make something work.
We will sometimes take trips out to meet with students in states without leadership summits when there is enough interest, so by all means take the survey no matter where you are.
We’ll probably decide which regions to do extended trips in around mid-August. If your region is selected AND after planning a productive route we can make a meeting with you happen, you will hear from an ERI staff person or volunteer about getting a meeting on the calendar.
Thanks so much!
