A year ago today, a jury in Philadelphia convicted one of our nation’s most horrific serial
killers, Kermit Gosnell. They found him guilty of killing a desperate young mother and three of the thousands of babies he murdered over his 40+ year career. While many in the media tried to ignore his abhorrent crimes, the nation learned just how filthy and disgusting his practice of “reproductive freedom” really was. They learned that just because abortion is legal, doesn’t make it safe.
While Planned Parenthood and late-term abortion activists like Wendy Davis tried to quickly change the narrative, truth prevailed. The U.S. House of Representatives and states across the nation passed bills to ban abortions after 20 weeks, when babies have been scientifically proven to feel pain. Sadly, our U.S. Senate has failed to even call a vote for this historic human rights bill. Scared of deep pockets of those who advocate abortion even in the most in-humane and extreme circumstances, the Senate has remained silent.
Today, Senator Harry Reid needs to lead. He needs to allow a vote on the 20 week abortion ban. He must do the right thing. Only 9% of Americans stand with President Obama and his extremist views of abortion, taxpayer funded abortion in all 9 months of pregnancy, for any reason, and even death for a newborn who survives the horrific procedure.
Make no mistake about it, there are more Kermit Gosnells out there, preying on the desperation of women and relying on the powerful lobbying forces of Planned Parenthood to fight any common-sense safety standards so they can remain the shadows, making their millions.
The tide has turned. The majority of America is now solidly pro-life. It time to end the barbarism.
