Congratulations, UNM Students for Life!
The University of New Mexico Students for Life has gone above and beyond expectations in Albuquerque. Since their group’s founding in Spring 2013, these students have done extensive outreach for the 20 week abortion ban in their city, recruited record membership for their group in the Rocky Mountain region, and received more group trainings from SFLA than any other group in their state.
If that wasn’t enough, this group has taken fully embraced the vision of the Pregnant on Campus Initiative by actively advertising pregnant and parenting resources on campus. In addition to tabling every week for several hours, they have recently launched their resource website which details campus and local resources for pregnant and parenting students. Moreover, they have worked to hold the administration and women’s resource center accountable for their actions. The students continue to encourage them to offer life-affirming resources to their students.
The UNM Students for Life group not only ministers to the UNM population, but they extend their resources to the greater community to provide support and resources to pregnant, parenting, and post-abortive individuals. They have organized a community family needs drive and a 5k walk/run to collect Christmas gifts for families in need.
In the coming months, the group will attend the West Coast Walk for Life and SFLA WC Conference for their first time. They are working with SFLA to create the Rocky Mountain SFLA Leadership Coalition, and they are assisting in the organization of the March for Life in Santa Fe (NM) this coming January.
It is incredible to see a group so dedicated to saving lives in the “Late-Term Abortion Capital” of the country. UNM Students for Life has wholeheartedly committed to abolishing abortion in their lifetime, and we support their courageous efforts to transform the University of New Mexico campus and the Albuquerque community.
