This month, let SFLA help you Break the Stigma of Abstinence in your school. Committing to an abstinent life-style is so much more than a religious or moral decision. It is the best decision you can make for your body.
Today, your generation encounters ridiculous pressure to have sex before and outside of marriage. The media, profiting organizations such as Planned Parenthood, and even some sex education classes encourage sexual experimentation and downplay the risks associated with this behavior. However, you deserve to know the truth: Only abstinence completely eliminates the risks involved with teen sex. “Precautions” are not a sufficient substitute for abstinence because you are still susceptible to becoming pregnant, contracting an STI or STD, and experiencing negative emotional consequences.
The ultimate assault on abortion is abstinence! Guess what? If you aren’t having sex, your chances of having an abortion just plummeted to 0! By making the connection between abstinence and abortion, we are taking preventive measures. Let’s get to the root of the problem!
Let’s get the word out that abstinence is the best option! Will you help?
This month’s box includes the following materials: 50 “How At Risk Are You” brochures, 25 flyers, 25 “What Does Planned Parenthood Have Planned For You” postcards, Breaking the Stigma Talking Points, and a STD Fact Sheet from the Center for Disease Control. Please email Missy to request your Box. Boxes will be sent while supplies last.
Provide Real Help & Resources
When you are talking to your peers about abstinence, you may encounter a friend who has an STD or may be pregnant. You should always be prepared to offer direction towards counseling and support organizations. If they have an STD, strongly encourage them to visit their Primary Care Doctor immediately. If they are pregnant, direct them to your nearest life-affirming pregnancy help center.
Events & Activities
Organize educational tabling and flyering campaigns. For 2 weeks, hold a table with a display and handouts about the risks associated with sexually active teens. Pass out your “How At Risk Are You” Brochures and Planned Parenthood postcards, and flyer with the posters that you received in your Event-in-a-Box. See these pages for information on the harmful effects of contraception, facts about STDS, and Planned Parenthood’s ulterior motives.
